Squat effectiveness

I have a really bad neck at the moment and its really difficult to put a squat bar on it. Would squatting with dumbells be just as effective until my reck recovers from this problem?

Its a good alternative for sure. But I would try and recover from theneck problem because that can effect other facets of lifting.

maybe front squat, leg press, etc. i have still get neck rsi from even holding heavy dumbbells if im already having neck issues. prolly should fix that 1st

Definitely opt for an alternative method. Dumbbells will work great whether just in your hands or you "hug" one in front of your body. Front barbell squats are also a fantastic exercise.

Try this

Like.steve said. If you want to improve legs and are training properly you won't be able to hold the kinda dumbbells to equal the weight you normaly would bar squat.
