the last few years i have seen a lot people, in my gym and elsewhere, turning to soy protein instead of whey for post workout, pre workout.. or for a meal through the day.. or a mix of soy and whey. either way.. we do not want to do this !!
i am not saying that soy is garbage, because it does have a lot health benefits and vitamins and minerals that are not found in whey. i am just saying that is not the protein we want to use to help build muscle !!
after a workout it is essential to get protein in your system as fast as possible to help start recovering and rebuilding. that is why we turn to whey, because it is so quickly digested.
soy is not a good option for this. soy is not a complete protein, meaning that it lacking certain branch chain amino acids in its amino acid chain. our body can not fully use this to repair our muscles. its like trying to build a house.. but not bringing any nails.
so at the crucial time when your muscles are starving for protein.. make sure you feed them right and give them everything they need. drop the soy.. stick with whey.
just a pet peeve of mine
