yea some trainer at gym came to me when I was squating...
and he told me that I should do for legs this routine Twice a week

squats 1 set of 12 rep Increase 5pounds everytime I squats.
leg extension 4 sets of 10-12 rep
leg curls 4 sets of 10-12 rep
standing calves raise on the smith machine 4 sets of 12-15 rep

that's what he told me is he right or totally in the wood ! :)

well I did 4 sets of 8 rep today on squats cause he came to me on my last sets

Should I stick with my 4sets/8reps squat

OR/

Give a try to that leg routine

thank everyone who anwser this =)

umm, 12 reps would be more benificial than 8 in my opinion
give it ago, but I wouldnt make it a corner stone of my routine

well using your logic 100 reps would be more beneficial so why don't you try that.

tell him to go pound sand, that routine sucks ass

lol...that's my opinion too, really.

I do quads (each bodypart really) twice a week, and on quads I work up to a heavy set of 4-8 reps, then a "widowmaker" set of 20.

woah sorry kev I didnt read the routine right. It only says 1 set of squats. Id be doing 3-4 sets. You know my leg routine inst that much different from that. Mine is:
Warm up leg Extension 2x10 (light)
Squats/Leg press/Hacks reps vary. Usually 3x12,10,8 and even 6 somtimes or on the odd ocassion 3x5.
Somthing else random here. Like Lunges or Stiff Legged Deads
Leg Curls 2-3x12
Then I usually do some super sets calf work.

Might not work for you, but my legs are fucken thick as, I cant even pull my pants sleves up 3 inches past my knees.

Thats a very basic routine for leg training. IMO squats are best worked using sets with heavy, increasing weights for 4-5 sets in the 6-8 rep range, then finish with one drop set at higher reps. You can alternate between normal stance & sumo stance to hit the inside & outside sweeps.

Twice a week is fine.

I would rather do 2 sets. I actually like to get really warmed up on squats, so I do a few sets of 5 with only the bar, then a few sets of 5 with half weight. I also practice resting in a squat position when I start; just squat down with no weight and rest there in a squat position to get comfortable. Then I stand up tall with my arms out in front, abs pulled in.

It's important to get right technique. You can go wide for power or narrow to target quads. Knees must line up with the direction your toes point (knee joint doesn't bend sideways -- failure to do this is how guys get knee injuries).

I would do deads instead. SLDL, RDL, sumo - they are all excellent if done right. If you can do snatches, those are good for calves, if not, deads work well.

Stretch your legs (quads, hams, addducter/abducters) and back between sets, after you're done, and between workouts.

YOu can use the foam roller on your IT band, quads, piriformis. It can help.

DOn't neglect core work, especially training obliques and transverse abdominis. These are important for stability, form and posture, and can help avoid injury (belt is a crutch)

Form is the most important thing for squats. Get your form right first.
