Some skinny kid at my gym told me: "Bro, you over-train"

You weigh 170lbs, how tall are you? I hope you are not one of these obzokie looking jerks with no legs, no back, no chest and two big arms.

If that is the case then listen to the 135lbs geek, he is right.

Go look up some information on symmentry. There are general guide lines.

e.g. If your arms are 15" your chest should be 45" calves 15" waist etc. etc....... something like that.

same thing i am thinking LOL This would explain a lot, I hope for his sake he is really short. Like 5'5" or something.

I remember when I was 170lbs at 5'10, I was about 17 yrs old. I was proportioned and my arms were 14.5" - 15" max

if your not pro who cares about proportions. personally ill take mass were i can get it. i woudlnt ever cut down on the amount of gains i can get for a body part to compensate for another, the more muscle the better.

Bro, thats the dumbest thing I ever heard in my life. You must have some short circuits for real.

My .02!! Screw that skinny kid, look where his philosophy has gotten him. If it is working right now use it, when it stops working change the routine.
I understand people's philosophy about overtraining, but everyone's body works a little different, i.e. what works for me might not for you. If I was hitting every body part 3x a week and growing like a weed I'd be damned to stop.
The gym I go to has these little skinny college geeks for trainers that attended an APEX seminar. You learn from experience, not reading a damn book. They even preach BS APEX supplements, but none of them use them, and they don't think you should take in more than 20 grams of protien. JOKES.

not that i want to start some shit here but....

nearly everyone I know (BBs and non BBs) find proportion appealing. I hear girls all the time say "look at that guy with the tooth picks for legs"
when a guy has a 45" chest and a 40" waist we say he's fat, right ? well, then how can you say proportion isnt important ? In my gym we have the "arm crew" all they do are curls and pressdowns, all the time. They have great arms but look like complete RETARDS. but hey if you want to look like popeye with the girly body and the big arms - its all you bro ! ;)

Have to agree with Adaptek, I would far rather have 200lb with symmetry than 240 and look like shit - like a massive back or chest and no arms,or a big upper body and relatively skinny legs - looks ridiculous!

as for you JonnyFiveIsAlive....

from what Adaptek said I find it really hard to determine whether on not he is insecure or skinny.

and you SHOULD take all the gains you can get because as you apparently dont know, people who know how to train have equal gains in all of their body parts. Not just their arms.

why cant we all just get along !

I think we kinda agree now bro. I was not suggesting that anyone cut down on a bodypart. Its important to modify their routine to prioritize certain body parts if they are lacking. My arms grew very fast when I trained them on their own day so I now train bis with my back and tris with shoulders, they grow just as fast but are not taking up a whole day that I could use to split my legs.
