Sodium Intake

Around 6 g/day, although I think you can get away with less.

If you are making all your own food from fresh, then you should salt your food, especially when training.

Tat---What about serum sodium levels( naturally produced)? I have a pal who has his out of whack;so says his doc. I guess the serum sodium levels should be in the range of 135-145--His are NO where close. I had never heard of serum sodium levels ever being checked???

Any ideas?

Sodium is a part of the urea and electrolytes or BUN in the US. It also has potassium and creatinine in it and is generally considered to be a measure of renal function.

Do you have any numbers?

Low sodium and high potassium can be indicative of Addison's disease, he would need to have his cortisol checked.

There is a bit of room for different levels in different people, so down 120-160 nmol/L is acceptable, but I would have it checked again.

He's hitting rock bottom in regards to levels( I can NOT recall the #'s) VERY LOW THOUGH! Yikes, NOW I have to Google Addison's disease.

Thanks doll! I knew I could count on you for an answer. YOU ROCK!
