Smith Machine Deadlifts

Gymtime I agree with you that bent over-rows are great on the smith. As for deads refer to endpoints post. See took it easy no flames.

I could see partials on the smith, but see it physically impossible to do a proper dead on the smith.
Bent rows on the smith are great IMO.

Why not use the cage/rack and over time work partials, progressively racking the weight lower and increasing the weight until you reach the ground?

Could be right as I've never actually tried deads on a smith machine. I guess I just assumed It'd be pretty much the same. Ah well. We live, we learn. ;)

The real problem with deads is that they're not directly up and down; doing them on a smith will actually force you to use way too much lower back. Besides, I really don't see the point.... In a deadlift, the end position for the bar is on the floor...which is where it would end up if you felt like you were about to fail.... Do you have a spotter when you deadlift?
