Sled Dragging

any recommendations on sled purchase?

is a flat bottom sled better or more durable than a railed edge one? ive seen both and wondered.

i like the one on elitefitness, there is also a "sprinters" sled on performbetter.com. elite's is flat, performbetter.com's is railed.

i like bfolds setup with the vhandle and chain. im not sure how to set up an ankle setup. do any of you guys have a torso harness?

sorry so many questions...

i looked at sled dragging 101 on the asylum's site...but the vids wouldnt load for me. :bawling:

I have a set up and for the most part it just gets "engineered" into whatever I need that day.

I would suggest if you are sprinting on grass to just get a car tire and load a little weight on it. Dragging a flat sled in grass is much harder so if you are going to run with it, get one with rails.

Torso harness's can be bought or I just use a rope through my weight belt

attachments can all be made from nylon rope and those clips you see on the universal machines....lol having a brainfart

if you can find a scrap metal shop there is a way to make a decent sled without any welds for just the price of the scrap and a couple bends

I'd like some ideas on where to find a harness (<--correct term?) to pull a sled? I imagine I could have the sled itself made by someone. Any tips for buying or making would be appreciated.

Here, read that and it should answer your questions sk.

I just built a sled the other day. I got a 2'x4' sheet of ten gauge steel and welded a post to it. Then I cut two holes in the front and used to nylon strapping I got at Ace hardware for .33 cents a foot. Total cost was about $25 for material.

I have also seen ads in monster muscle and a couple other mags for actual harnesses.

For pulling a sled a full harness is not needed at all b/c you will typically only pull between 100 and 600 pounds all of which can be done with a weight belt

if you do not have access to a welder, oversize the dimensions an extra inch and a half then you can bend three sides up to make a box for the first 2 plates to sit in, then you can just put a piece of tubing in those plates and load more on top...

Bignate, we are in the process of launching our full site. The vids should be up by tonight...sorry.

Should be working now. I've been noticing some performance issues from our hosting company today, with extremely slow transfer rates.

I just checked it, and I'm seeing good speed, but if you see a slowdown, do a right-click and Save Target As.

:)

hmmm...so scrap metal bent, weld a post and maybe a ring on the front? or is the 2 holes on the sides of the front ok too. will they hold? i wanted to just attach a chain to the little loop in the front. the weld will hold it?

i just got mine today and i love it, its prolly 2'x2' w/6 front lip and maybe 20" plate loader and painted bright yellow and black to match my yoke:D
