I would stick with the EZ curl bar. The straight bar may put a lot of strain on your wrist and I am sure if it would be much more effective. You can try it and see how it feels.
 
I much prefer the EZ bar, I can handle much more weight and safer too

Palms facing in, you mean? I have a mental picture of me dropping lots of weight directly on my face ... Haha.
 
Yeah, if you're not careful, you will get a nose full of ez bar.

If you try these, don't expect to use as much weight as you do for normal skulls. It will take some getting used to. But once I did, I got completely addicted. I think they isolate much better.
 
I don't even perform the so called skull crushers. I perform lying or incline french presses. I let the bar travel behind my head for a fuller range of motion. I feel that the stress is directed on the long head of the tricep.
