Should someone use r-ala during carb-up day?

Well, I'm already familiar with that information.

This is the thing...

I have no problem with someone makng a buck. And as many of you know, I ofen get my balls busted for promoting my book , even though I NEVER mention it in my posts. Meanwhile you (ulter) and macro constantly start threads about r-ala, mention it on unrelated posts and and talk about it as if it's the greatest thing since dianabol. Of course --
you both sell it.

And even though I think you push it too hard, that's your perogative. But don't come off like condesending pricks if someone doesn't use the psuedo sciency sales pitch that you prefer.

In a nutshell...r-ala will lower blood sugar. If you want to dismiss extra carbs, that's a good thing. But if you want carbs to "do their thing", it isn't. You can't have it both ways.

Okay, I've cooled off a bit and I have to say "condesending pricks" was a bit over the line. (Had a nice ring to it though). I was in a bad mood and that post rubbed me the wrong way, so for that, I apologize. But I stand by all the other statements.

BTW, Vanadyl doesn't increase insulin sensitivity in healthy humans

Effect of acute and short-term administration of vanadyl sulphate on insulin sensitivity in healthy active humans.

Jentjens RL, Jeukendrup AE.

Human Performance Laboratory in the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences at the University of Birmingham, Edgbaston, B15 2TT, Birmingham, UK.

Vanadium compounds have been shown to have insulin-like properties in rats and non-insulin-dependent diabetic humans. The purpose of the present study was to examine whether the effects of acute and short-term administration of vanadyl sulfate (VA) on insulin sensitivity also exist in healthy active individuals. Five male and two female participants (age: 24.9 1.5 years; heigh: 176.1 2.9 cm; body mass: 70.1 2.9 kg) underwent 3 oral glucose tolerance tests (OGTT). The first OGTT was performed to obtain a baseline index of insulin sensitivity (ISI). On the night preceding the second OGTT, participants ingested 100 mg of VS, and the acute effects of VS on ISI were examined. For the next 6 days, participants were instructed to ingest 50 mg of VS twice daily, and a final OGTT was performed on day 7 to determine the short-term effects of VS on ISI. No differences were found in fasting plasma glucose and insulin concentrations after VS administration. Furthermore, ISI after 1 day and 7 days of VS administration was not different compared with baseline ISI (4.8 0.1 vs. 4.7 0.1 vs. 4.7 0.1, respectively). These results demonstrate that there are no acute and short-term effects of VS administration on insulin sensitivity in healthy humans.

r+alpha lipoic does not stop carbs from entering the bloodstream.

the carbs still "do their thing".

the greatest impact is on insulin sensitivity, partitioning and plasma insulin.

the net effect is greater and more effective shuttling of larger amounts of carbohydrates with the greatest efficiency and extremely minimized lipogenic/anti-lipolytic effect(lowered plasma insulin).

if you want higher insulin which equals greater fat and fluid retention then- dont take R+

Nelson you can't possibly be familiar with the information in that summary. If you were you wouldn't post that R lipoic acid doesn't allow carbs to cause "fullness, energy, vascularity,".
You have obviously never used it. You have obviously never read that summary. And once again you have posted erroneous information about a really basic principal. R-ALA prevents carbs from getting to the blood stream???? What the hell is the matter with you?
You have appologized for that pseudo science crack so I won't get into the fact that what we say has been proven in over 400 studies in over 20 countries over the last 30 years.

Nelson I usually support your comments, but your criticism of r-ala was completely unfounded. I don't have any stake in the product, but I'll promote it because of how great it is for me. I get all the things out of carbs that I want just without the fat and lethargy stemming from increased insulin. That's why people use it. To get the benefits of carbs and not the detriments of insulin.

What happens to the carbs if they were prevented from entering the bloodstream? Of course they enter the bloodstream and are transported to muscle instead of sitting around waiting to be converted to fat.

I can be wrong but carb-up days or refeed days are suppose to increase leptin levels, right? But taking r-ala you wont be regulating the leptin levels 100%, true?
