New member
.........you are dieting down. I have had a BIG problem doing this and have lost at least 10-15 lbs on my 5 rep sets. Is there any help out there?:bawling:

hey tigertat, how r ya'??when i diet to make a weight class ileave my protein high or even raise it a little and drop carbs.i kind of eat like a bodybuilder but train like a powerlifter.are you getting ready for ameet??
PM me and let me know what's up..............

It is very difficult to keep all your strength if you are cutting weight pretty hard. Depends on how you are cutting and how much you are cutting. Do what The Mann says and make sure you are not depriving your muscles of anything. If you eat right you can gradually cut weight with minimal strength loss.

thanks guys, I guess that is half my problem. Also 2 months ago I injured my sholder so I took 3 weeks off from benching and went real easy on everything else trying to let my body recover. During the last 2 weeks of this I lost 12 lbs. Unfortunetly at this time my diet went to shit also and I lost a lot of strength.

What types of rutines do you do when you try to maintain, and what suplements do u take when loosing weight? ECA type stack, juice, or do you do it all with diet and cardio?

i rarely go much over my weight limit so for meto drop down it doesn't take much at all.if you do want to drop alot of weight Powfit is right, you have to do it slow or kiss your lifts goodbye.the first to be affected will be your bench ,too.i never do cardio, only 5 min on the treadmill to warmup before we lift.i eat prett clean all year round.i've beenup to 190 and let's say 8-10 wks out start decreasing carbs and you get the lastfew pounds of just to make the weight which is water anyway.then you carb up and rehydrate.hope i helped a little.....:mix:

bullshit. You can drop 10lbs, weigh 24hours prior and be back up to your normal before meet starts.

There's 2 trains of thought here. Do it gradually, over 4 to 6 weeks. You will feel better during the meantime and you will probably keep your strength, but you will be hard pressed to make many gains. Cutting weight and getting stronger are hard to do at the same time

Or you can do it drastically. It's tough, but seems to work better on meet day when you have it figured out. For a saturday meet -- start on Sunday and drink water all day adn put salt on everything. You should be drinking maybe 2 gallons or more per day. Do this thru tuesday. On wednseday, just drink water when you are thirsty and cut the salt. Thurs, just enough to choke your food down and none on friday till you weigh in. I also use mild diuretics -- usaully prescription type such as aldactone. I do not like lasix as it's very harsh on your body but aldactone is very mild. Right after you weigh in mix a giant gatorade and pedialyte. Get the unflavored pedialyte because the other stuff tastes like shit. I usally hit the diuretics wed evening thru friday early am. And eat your ass off all day friday. Make sure it is garbage food too -- mroe calories and salt.

The way teh mann says is safer and more sane but you will have more strength on meet day theother way.
