rep' method for M.E. bench

endpoint

does anyone here use the repetition method as a max effort exercise on bench day.

what do you think if using it?
what do you perform(exercises)?

I have only used ultra wides and flat bench dumbell....but i am thinking of adding a few more into rotation...dumbell floor, incline/decline etc.

also how often do you use this method. and rep scheme

I have been limiting it to every 6-7 week...but am thinking of upping it

So far, I have just done a rep max with 100 lb dumbells on a flat bench for a rep max, then rest a few minutes and try it again. I have done this on two different max effort days so far.

After my next meet, I am going to try a rep max with 225 on an olympic bar, just to see how I rank against the guys at the NFL combine. It is out of curiosity more than anything else, although I obviously hope it will help my strength.

Personally, I can't see where it would be a real good idea to be doing rep maxes much more often than once every 6 - 8 weeks, but who knows, it might be the shit.

The rep method is okay every once in a while. I did a rep max with 225 x20 once. I bet there are people on this board who can get over 30. I felt that it was more of a combined test of endurance and strength than a 1 rep max. I think the average Division 1 lineman gets 11 reps with 225. I am not 100% sure though I remember reading something like that.

Rep method

Louie Simmons on one of his tapes suggests doing it every 5 and 6 week of the cycle. So do board press for two weeks, floor press, then ultrawides. And so on. I've only used DB and ultrawides. When I do DB it's for 3x15 and when I do ultrawides it's for 1x6. I'm gonna add in floor DB's next time. Good Luck
