Question about tears, injuries, knees

did you play basketball or jump having to reach something? if you remember jumping then coming back down on it the wrong way, that can definitely do it. i've done this a few times

i know guys that have played entire football games with a completely torn acl, the complete detachment usually severs the nerves as well and therefore the is not much pain, but you would be seeing some swelling and having trouble moving by now

Or in my case 6 years of soccer and a year of vball with a torn ACL:o

DBC, this happened when he tried to squat like a powerlifter...it never happened when he trained for strongman. lol

B, you're a pro now. People are looking for you to perform. If you were a race car driver, fans and sponsors would expect you to take good care of your car, or they would think twice about backing you. Part of your sponsorship money is to make sure the performer can perform optimally...that's YOU! If you were the average Joe I'd tell you to ice it, lay off, and see what happens. You're a Professional North American Strongman. Take care of the machine! At the very least ask around our St. Louis buddies and friends from Elite, and see if there's a doctor that will sponsor you with check ups. Find something...

I just tore my ACL, and I had no Pain at all!! IronLion is right, when you've completely torn a ligiment the nerves are gone, hense, No pain!!! I am not sure what to tell you, but I hope you recover quickly. Just keep in mind that if you did rip a tendon, ligiment ect... The longer you wait to get it checked out, the more damage you might do!!! Good luck b, Mike

Yes, but with no insurance and a non-abundance of money...it isn't usually the first thing that I think about.

I just emailed the IFSA-USA Physician...I hope that he gets back in touch with me asap.

I would just think that I would have some sort of pain...I mean I've had NONE. Am just hoping that the lack of sensation that I have in a spot or two is from lack of movement/exercise, there is a bone there, and maybe those muscles/tendons/ligaments never being worked or compressed like that before.

Those knee wraps were TIGHT...I dunno... Was hoping maybe just a bone bruise or something...

Everything that I read about a tear/rupture of the knee tendons said that it was accompanied by LOTS of immediate pain and I've never known anyone to have a tear/rupture without swelling and bruising.

B True

i feel ya on that. those 80$ doctors visits sucks when you dont have insurance. i hope it gets better and isnt' anything serious. good luck man

I have Patella tendon problems, but my knee never feels unstable (it just hurts like a SOB just below the knee). I think you tore something. Like it or not, time to see the Doc.

Knee injuries are strange. Back in the mid 70s, football players would just be told that their knee was shot and couldn't play anymore (it was true, when they would try to make a cut their body goes one way and the knee went the other). But there wasn't any pain (they fell down instead). Most guys would just live that way rather than have those horrible scars and degeneration from surgery.......seems like only Namath was willing to get cut on over and over......

You live in a golden age for getting 2nd chances at sports.

im no doc but if you have no pain, have no swelling, have no discoloration, and can perform the same.......... i dont see how it could be a complete tear. I could see how someone could play a football game with a torn mcl........ easy - adrenaline.

but b your calm, any andrenaline is gone. if your still lifting oly style and ok......... i dont see how anything could be severed.

just my .02 cents.

if there was no inflamation it was probably nothing serious, b/c inflamation is the bodies first response to injury. Just keep it in check and be careful man
