PushPress good for shoulder strength?

yes, warmup is critical. I do single plate raises with a 10lb plate in each hand raise them up slow, then in a slow circular motion, i do these in between sets to keep the muscles warm.

I might add that when I lift I always dress warm, even though it may not be cold, but im a firm believer in heat. If you can keep your muscles warm the better off you are.
 
I remember trying standing barbell presses for the first time. Its un-natural at first if your use to back support, but make you strong IT WILL!!!
