Pull-Throughs???

Just started doing pull-Throughs again after about 1 yr! I did a light set of 3 x 12 on DL day yesterday. It felt pretty good.

I think they are supposed to work your back hams, and maybe hips? But wanted to know how important they really are.
I have no access to any Reverse Hyper at my gym so have to use what I can. Do these build up your lower back, or hips the most, and which lift would they help the MOST..... Squat, DL?

Thanks for any advise,

Hey man I do pullthroughs on a low pully, I believe they help depending on how much your squeezing to get up your glutes, hams, and lower back. I'm thinking this is for mainly deadlift, but can also help squat b/c of the power that's coming from the back of your leg.

Pull throughs with bands work very well also. There are several advantages of doing them with bands...1. Price, you can get an avg band for around 22 bucks and loop one under a bedpost and do them. 2. You can change the resistance by how far out you stand when you do them 3. You can vary the tension by adding a light band or a combo of light and mini bands or any combo you can think of. They will work your calves to a good degree as well as the afformentioned work on the glutes, hams and hips.

CytoMel.......just to add to your band suggestion

i have a few bands at home.......not jump stretch but anyway.

The reason i use them is because they feel very theraputic.

The pull through with light bands helps restore my hips.

reverse hypers

Testosterone.net has a couple of articles that show ways of improvising reverse hypers. The easiest way is to get into a regular hyper bench backwards. Perhaps backing it up to a low pulley so you can improvise some resistance. Or use a db between the feet.

there's no replacement for rev hyper, but you can hit the same muscles when you do pull thru's and goodmornings.they help the squat and deadlift...............

I have foudn pull thru's to be completely worthless for me. What has worked is cable dl's. I stand on a 12 inch box adn attach a short tricep bar to my low cable and face teh pulley, then just dl it.
