Proscar/propescia for new hair growth

Hi guys, I have started taking proscar (1/4 tablet) everyday while on my cycle. My friend has been using it for 11/2 years and got new hair to grow.

Has anyone tried it and what are your experiences while on or off the cycle? The research says if you stop you lose whatever you have gained.

I assume you have the 5 mg tablets??

The normal dose is 1 mg / day.

Propecia seems to work better than rogaine to grow and mostly keep what hair you have left. Mine starting falling out naturaly(Dam Genetics) and thinning. Propecia really thicken up my scalp area, It really does not regrow a ton of hair, but if you can what you got it is better than nothing.

Once you stop treatment, your hair folicale narrow will start up again, and eventually will start falling out.

Thanks for the reply baby_bbol. How long have you been using it and when did you start seeing hair growth?
I started 1 month ago and using 1/2 tab (5mg tab). I plan to do that for 6 months and then go to 1mg/day. My theory is to get the finesteride into blood to maximize the hair growth during that time and then maintain. I have hair but it is thinning, so it's more of a prevention and any added hair is a bonus.


Anyone else with Propescia/proscar experience?

The studies I have seen Have shown that basically that 2.5 or 5 mg is only marginally more effective then 1.25 mg so I say just keep with 1.25mg. I still lost hair and definitely did not regrow any while on a bridge of just test. But I may have had androgens like fina and dbol lingering in my scalp freom my last cycle. Finasteride only inhibits one kind of 5 AR, and not the kind in your scalp. But it will reduce total DHT levels. Just keep taking it, its better then not taking it. Off cycle it will help grow hair, but forget about it on cycle....

I read in an article that propecia blocks the enzyme that converts test to dhtest. It also stated that 1mg ed is enough to completely block the enzyme, so taking more is supposed to be a waste of money.
Maybe someone can verivy that.

Its a gradual change, but when I started, I had hair everywhere, but could see my scalp slightly., Hair ways doing the typical thinning and falling out.

After about 3.5 / 4 months, I just noticed I could not see my scap hardly at all on top. Did not grow any real new hair, but seem to thicken up what was left. But the biggest thing I noticed is where you would wash your hair or run hand through, there is nore falling out hair.
