Preacher Curls

I do them occassionally, but I don't consider them a staple because of the weight distribution throughout the movement. I do 2-3 sets.

I find my bis respond better to lighter weight with higher reps. But, i think low reps on peacher would be better than low reps on barbell curl, cause at least on preacher, you can really concentrate on the arms, and let it down slow.

gymtime, you know what you prick? Whenever I sit there and pick at my callouses, I think of your dumbass because of your location. You ruined a perfectly enjoyable idle pastime for me:doublefi:

OK tell you what. Since I've always liked you (despite what I tell damn near everyone), I'll be fair. Next time I'm getting the shit beat out of me, I'll think of your little video game guy....until I lose consciousnes of course.

Happy?

The only problem I can see with high weight/low rep preacher curls is that biomechanically, your arm isn't in a great position and you could hyper-extend or otherwise injure your elbow and bicep attachments.

Dude, was this statement even necessary? Isn't this board about training? I thought you were supposed to be sharing advice instead of insulting people. Chill out, this is a board where everyone is supposed to give advice and help eachother.

As for preacher curls, they are good for building fullness in the bicep. I think 3 sets is enough to attack the muscle. Here is a good routine that I sometimes follow:

Preacher Curls - 3 x 8
Incline DB Curls - 3 x 8

I watched this video from Larry Scott, former mr. olympia from back in the day, and he said that bringing your arms higher, like on preacher, is good for building arm size, but he says the reason is because it slacks the bicep muscle, forcing the bicep bracchi [spelling] muscle to do the lifting. And, that muscle goes underneath the bicep and will "push" the muslce up making it look bigger.
