PR on sumo dead

GENTLY?? Its a deadlift man...just drop it.

Nice pull...

When I sumo (which is rare) I need to put it down gently else I usually crush my toes......I set up with my toes almost touching the plates and if I drop it half an inch from where the bar started it can hurt alot.

It might also be that his gym does like you dropping plates......its sad but these places exist.

now that is a wide stance if I ever heard one. I deadliftin the power rack so the other gym members don't get in my way. craziness in the cage, which also restricts how far I can get my feet out.

good job dude. our stats are about the same. my PR for a conventional dead is 315 for 2, at 5'9, 165-170lbs. i just need to gain some goddamn weight now. haha.

If they don't like you dropping plates...then it is probably a "Fitness Center".

:lmao:

I can pull with my feet to the plates, but my arms are so long and my legs are so...average...that I only have to pull what seems like 6 inches to lock it out.

My legs are pretty long as are my arms (great combination for powerlifting.....I don't think!!)....so even with that wide a stance I am pulling the bar a good 18inches. I still prefer conventional though.....less technical.

We might want to experiment with sumo for you....see how it compares.

goober, we just did them like a week ago...I'm pulling mid 300's on both. They are equally comfortable for me, I just prefer conventional.

Spatts- when I go sumo, I go feet to plates and when I go conventional my heels are only about 3" apart max. So there is a huge difference in my stances and I think it translates to about a 6" difference in ROM.

The funny thing is that I think I have very good form in the sumo, near perfect, but I don't think I am strong enough to totally beat my conventional in that form. I dunno.

It would make more sense, in terms of competition, for me to pull sumo...it's got be at LEAST 8 inches shorter for me...if not closer to a foot. I just don't feel as "confident" in sumo even though the numbers are comparable. Perhaps I should practie it until I'm more confident with it.
