As for the statue thing---that was a statue that he was interviewed in front of on a daily basis and he saw it as a distraction. I see no problem with covering the statue -- but as usuall, anyone with convictions gets battered to hell in America today.

while this is a whole side issue, his embarrasment/lack of attention means a work of art is now covered up, and others cannot enjoy its beauty due to his embarassment.


personal convictions are one thing. but they shouldnt be allowed to overtly interfere with the running o a country, there has to be some sort of proffesional detachment involved. if he finds homosexuality or interracial relationships wrong, should he try and ban them? if he cant separate his personal views from his role as a employee of the people he shouldnt be in his position. 'enforced preaching' may go on in certain aspects of government rule but there are limits
