pain in hip flexors, cant squat or dead

Last week i was squatting in the cage and then i felt it, a pain in my left hip flexor. Lucky for the cage or that iron would've fucked me up. Anyways, since then i cant mimic a squat, deadlift or a single lunge. So what movements can i incorporate to strengthen them? Im thinkin hang leg raises and what else?

Are you doing leg raises now? The reason I ask is these aggravate the shit out of my hip flexors. I was doing them with a medicine ball between my knees to increase the resistance of the movement. I was having pain in the groin to the point I thought it was a hernia. I stopped doing these and the pain went away. I never stopped squatting.

I HAD BAD HIP FLEXOR INJURY THAT PERSISTED FOR 2 YEARS DOCS COULDN'T DO JACK PHYSICAL THERAPY DID JACK THE ONLY THINK THAT REALLY HELPED WAS A LOT OF STRETCHING AND WALKING IN THE POOL AND ONCE A WEEK DOING THE UNIVERSAL LEG MACHINE WITH VERY LITTLE WEIGHT.

Strained my hip flexor last summer. Gave a solid 3 months of rest and when I came back, the pain was still there. Worked through it with light squats and it slowly went away. May be that helps.

Right now am trying "box squats" and I find that it really takes the strain off the hip flexor and moves it to you upper hamstring/ butt region.

You need to find a way to train them. Strengthen your injury.

Box squats can help strengthen them.

You know those little fuzzy ankle straps over by the cable machine...they actually do work. Strap them to your ankle and do 10 to the back, 10 to the side, 10 to the front, and 10 to the middle...with each leg. Yes...I have done these before...

Sled dragging WSB style can also help

I would suggest seeing a doctor before trying to 'work' through any of the pain. I really hurt my quad about 2 months ago and I figured I could train through the pain. Well, it only made it worse. My quad was soo stressed the it was tightening up and basically pulling my patella so tight against my knee joint that it was killing me with pain.

Remember to work through soreness, not through pain. And, to go along with that, don't try and find work-around exercises to avoid the pain - get the problem fixed by a professional and then do your regular exercises with proper form and stretching.

In the past my hip hurt me when I did squats. When i started doing hamstring and quad stretches more thoroughly, the pain stopped.

Are you sure it's the hip flexors, I have bad bursitis in both hips that hurts like a bastard whenever I squat
