after i work out i have my pw shake and then recently i have been having a bannana. then i would usually have a meal like 45 or so mins after. im on a ckd bulking diet, so should i have fats/protien after workout (steak) or a carb meal? i have been told not to mix carbs/fats. maybe one of you diet wisards can help me. thanks.

Skip the post workout carbs on a CKD bulk. By reloading your glycogen stores you are shortchanging yourself of the real anabolic effect of the diet. The ketones and high calories will keep you in a postive nitrogen balance during the low carb period, despite slowly depleting glycogen stores. The carb up, after depleting gives you the major anabolic effect of the diet. By reducing the amount of depletion, you are greatly reducing the anabolic effect of the supercompensation effect caused by the depletion then carb load, as well as somewhat blunting the buildup of anabolic hormones caused by being in ketosis.

This diet is the exception to the carb load post workout rule. You will actually gain less muscle by doing so on this diet.

If you take in all of your carbs post work-out, and say keep them under 40, is it really going to make that much difference? The reason I ask is becuase that Di Paquale book I read said as long as the carb total is kept under your set point it really does not matter when you consume them, granted it you eat all your carbs post workout it would probably cut into the amount of leafy veggies you could eat everyday and that would not be good. If carbs are kept to say 5-10% of your total calories then won't the refeed be just as effective?

i would love more info on a cdk bulk, i know you like it. is there a link to it or a place where i can read up on it (find my reccomended daily cal intake, fats/protien/carbs stuff like that thanks)

Sorry, haven't read much online about it. Its just like a CKD diet, with more calories. Try bodyweight X 20, and slowly work up from there. Keep fat at 60%+ of your calories, and keep the carbs as low as you must. There is a sticky on EF that explains how to do this one insulin, but I don't recomend that. LoL Its called "Insulin and Big Fat Bastards"
