Im curious how many guys do them and the auxilarys. If so what poundages are you guys puttin up? Have you guys noticed physique improvements or any functional strength improvements?

Ive been doin power cleans off and on for years. Never really felt like they did alot for me.
I just recently strated doin these cleans, snatches, clean and jerk, split jerk, hi-pulls, push press, behind the neck press. I wana try overhead squats but am kinda reluctant, lol.

Here's my numbers, not the greatest but i just started doin this stuff

Snatch- 155
Clean and jerk- 185
Split Jerk- 250x2
Hi Pull- 185x5
Push press- 185x5

Snatch is by far the hardest and most dangerous for me but its a great sense of acomplishment when i nail the lift. My gym partner is scared to do em and ive been getting some pretty funny looks from the other gym patrons, granted i work out at 24hour fitness but i dont really care. I like these types of lifts, much needed change of pace to my old routine. One thing i learned is to do these exercises fresh. I tried super setting hi pulls with snatches, bad idea. High pulls made me tired.

I love high pulls! I do them once a week right after bench, and do split jerks first as my main overhead push exercise on saturdays. If you can split jerk 250 that means with a little practice on your clean you should be clean and jerking 250+. I high pulled 5x2x225 (easy) and am going for 5x3x225 this week. I use a double progression:

Week 1
5x2x100 (example weight)

Week 2
5x3x100

Week 3
5x2x110

Week 4
5x3x110

It works great and I haven't come near stalling yet on them. For split jerks I just do 4x3 adding 5 pounds a week, I did 4x3x195 last time (have a video too) but I missed 2 weeks now on them.

I barbell cleaned 185 pretty easy and have power cleaned 225 so i might be able to clean and jerk it. I'll give it some prectice and let you know what happens. I like the double progression method, if i stall ill try it. ive been making good gains just trying more and more weight. ive been doin these lifts on my shoulder days, seems like most of these moves involve the shoulders. you ever try the snatch?

Yeah I've tried snatches I had them in my routine for a while but my form just sucked. I think I got 155 for a single and 135 for a couple reps. I dropped them and had 1 handed barbell power snatches in there but I think I am going to remove those too because I'm just not getting a ton of benefit out of them.

However I did hit 95x1 for one rep on these lol ;)

I also almost lost my balance hahhahahahaha

Tb - that's not a power snatch - that's a one arm-muscle-snatch! If you managed to pull it up explosively to about 60% as high and then jumped under it, you'd probably be able to call it a weird power snatch. Nothing wrong with doing any variation, but you'd lift a lot more if you practiced the right form. Took me a year to do a slightly decent full squat snatch.

Still very impressive though - lifting all that weight overhead, loose on a long bar.

Oh thanks lol! I was hoping someone who actually knew something about olympic lifting would watch it to tell me what I am doing!!!:D Whatever they are they are still fun though

I was thinking the olympic style, lol. looks like a good full body lift though.
Ive noticed on the clean and snatch the foot position is critical. its all in the technique. gota have toes and knees turned out about 45 degrees. im used to toes forward on deads, squat and just about every other standing lift.

So i did some clean and jerks today. Wasnt easy but i hit 225 nicely. Now to see if i can get my snatch up that high.
