nycgirl's Food & Training Log

March 12, 2005

8:30 - 1/2 cup of oatmeal (cooked in water) w/ 1/4 cup of blueberries, 4 egg whites, and 2T of flax meal

Around the time I joined EF, I also signed up for the Discovery Channel Health Challenge (don't laugh). Anyway, I went back for the weigh in and the body fat test (they use the hand held computerized counter). Well, I know the machine isn't accurate. However, according to the machine my body fat went down 3%. I'm doing CTS competion (see the Diet board for details) this Apr, so I will be getting my bf tested w/ calipers soon.

11:45 - 1 1/2 scoop of PP w/ 3/4 cup of soy milk

11:45 - 1 1/2 scoop of PP w/ 3/4 cup of soy milk

3:00 - 1 6oz can of tuna (in water) mixed w/ 2T of hummus and 1t of hot ground cherry peppers; 1 wrap

7:00 - 5 baby carrots and 1T of hummus

Totals (For my reference) Calories - 934; Carbs - 83; Fat - 21; Protein - 103
(31%/22%/47%)

8:20 - Homemade Beef Stew (Lean Beef, 1 package of frozen veggies (potatoes, carrots, celery and pearl onions) - yes, I know this was lazy of me) and 1/2 cup of brown rice

I'm not sure of the calorie count for the stew. I'm going to assume that dinner was no more than 500-550 calories (I think my assumption is little high). It is nice to know that I can have a homemade meal and still be withing my x10-x12 range. Carbs are probably high, but they are usually low during the week.

Good morning everyone!!

5:30 - Workout: Cardio - Warm-up 2 minutes on elliptical, and run @ 6.2 for 2 minutes and 6.5 for 1 minute. Intensity Training - 7.5 for 2 minutes; 7.0 for one minute.

I was able to do this for two cycles. When I lowered the speed to 7.0 on the second cycle, my heart rate went through the roof and I got light headed and dizzy. The heart rate monitor was not working (my bf's apt building has crappy equipment). Wanted to do this for 20 minutes. Will attempt to do this workout on Wed. (I'm not happy that it kicked my ass). Slowed machine down and walked @ 2.0 for three minutes to slow down heart rate.

Hopped on elliptical did 6 cycles of 2 mins. @ resistance level 10 and 2 mins @ resistance level 14 (can not change incline on the Precor I used) Max Heart Rate for this exercise - 178

6:50 - 3/4 cup of oatmeal w/ 5 egg whites and 1T of flax meal.

9:20 - My body feels like it is still running. 30 minutes until my next meal. Will drink some green tea until then.

10:00 - 1 1/2 scoops of Strawberry PP and 1/2 cup of Uncle Sam's Cereal (mixed w/ water)

2:30 - Felt light-headed; Dizzy when I stood up. Had my 3:30 meal early, which was probably for the best because I have a meeting @ 3:00.

Had to come to work early today - will lift this evening (joy, joy!!!). I hate going to the gym in the evening. If it isn't the guy using the squat rack for barbell curls, it's the guys that hog the benches and take forever to do 3 sets.

5:45 - 1 scoop of PP blended (in water) w/ 1/3 cup of Uncle Sam's Cereal

March 15, 2005

Went out to lunch with my group to welcome our newest member (the friend I went out to dinner with on Mon.

Had rainbow trout and a baked potato.

7:30 - 1/2 cup of lamb chop shoulder w/ 1/2 cup whole leaf spinach.

Did not go to the gym. No excuses.

Weight: 140

6:00 - Workout: Weights
Bench Press: 5x5- 10lbs added on.
(This went a lot better than I thought it would. Chest muscles were trembling after 4th set. Put my head in between my legs and rested for over a minute. I was able to complete last set. Will stay at this weight until it gets easier; not ready to increase weight next week)
Barbell Rows: 5x5 - 10lbs added on.
(This wasn't difficult. Will stay at this weight one more week and work on better form. Switched between "palm up" and "palm down" grip. Def. felt the exercise in my upper back.)
Deadlifts: 1x20 - 20lbs added on.
(Will stay at this weight for a while; rested between reps a bit too much. The line down my lower back is getting more defined and deeper. Slowly starting to travel up the middle back)
Standing Calf Raises (machine): 2x20 - 75lbs

6:45: 2 scoops of PP blended in water w/ .6 cup of Uncle Sam's Cereal

9:40: 1 large Pumpernickel bagel w/ 1 serving of light cream cheese
