For any type of full contact fighting, the stronger you are the better. The harder you are the better, as well.
As far as reps go... try some negatives or static contraction training for strength, it worked well for me.
The main training that will make you a better fighter is practice 'fighting'. One thing you can add to your weight training is working on your grip, your punch (IE tris) and your ability to sprawl and counter. If you want some more specific info on functional strength training for fighting, PM me.
