Hey,

Well, I've decided to get myself into shape, because at the moment im a skinny little boy and it doesnt feel real good.

Im 16 years old, 5 feet and 11 inches tall and weigh only 140 pounds.

Im not not very strong nor very big (as you may guess), but I do seem to have a good cardiovascular system since I play a fair amount of sports.

I don't have access to a gym in my area, all I have is what I own and thats not a whole lot. I have some dumbbells and barbells and a benchpress area (just the little stand thing). So as you can see, im quite limited on what I can do.

My weakest area by far are my arms. To some this might be funny, but to me its really sad. I have 11.5 inch sized biceps and 10inch forearms, my arms are totally not in proportion with the rest of my body and my body is quite small.

I've also been plagued with a small frame, my wrists are 6.2 inches.

And here I have a few questions for people more experienced in this then I. When you put on muscle mass, I know your main muscle areas get bigger, but what about areas like your wrists. Mine are very skinny and small (like I said, 6.2 inches), but if I did certain specific exercises, could they increase to 6.5 inches or are there not enough muscles present to see any increase in size?

Also, how many grams of protein should I be taking in per day? I currently get in 110-120.

By reading the forums, the most common advice for people with my type of body has been to eat, eat and eat some more. I shall do that :). But is there any other advice that could be useful to me?

Thanks :)

1) learn proper form
2) squat heavy
3) dead heavy
4) bench heavy
5) eat till you puke..then eat some more
6) get plenty of rest

When you gain muscle mass, your wrists wont get bigger, but thats a good thing as it will make you look bigger when your muscles taper down into small joints. I am also very small framed, was 140lbs when I started training (230lbs now) and the small joints make me look bigger than most people that weigh the same as me

i also have a small frame dude.

My wrists were about 6.5 inches when i began seriously lifting about 2 months ago. Now they are about 6.8 inches.

Bodybuilding doesn't hugely affect your body frame but that doesnt mean you cant build more muscle around your body to give the impression that u do have a big frame.

The chances are that u are an ectomorphic person like me so the general advice for all ectomorphs is EAT TILL U PUKE. Then coming far behind that is your training. It may sound weird but ectomorphs need to eat so much more then they are used to before they even think about lifiting the weights.

Do you have a workout plan? If not, You better take a look around here and see what you can do in terms of sets and reps and exercises, amount of rest days between workouts etc.

You DON`T WANT TO OVERTRAIN and get injured or not grow. LEARN WHAT THAT IS It`s easy to fall into the "more is better" cycle. So please read alot. Like Jeremys said THE BASICS will do wonders. Good luck

Thanks for all the advice guys. :)

Yeah I've been eating ALOT more then before and im trying to maintain that extra eating habit.

And im going to make sure I don't overtrain, although I have the temptation to workout more often.

Oh and does anybody know exercises I can do to work my back? (non-machines)

Thanks,
