Navy Seals workout?

Hello, I'm new here. I've been browsing the board and I have several questions, but one on particular: do any of you people have jobs? ;) How do you fit several hours of working out in a day and still work?

I try to get in at least an hour a day, but even that is a challenge. Weekends are better as I get to do some long road or mtn bike trips, and I try to do my strength training during the week. That's the hardest part, being consistent with my training through the work week.

To my subject. I ran across the Navy Seals workout program on the net. It is here and I was wondering if any of you had tried something like this. It would be quite a commitment but I think something like this might give me a fresh outlook on training.

man it sucks, unless your goal is to just get fit, but you'll barely gain any muscle doing pushups situps and pull ups... lift weights.. and sure if you want do the running and swimming parts... IMO cardio is important, good to have a strong heart and lungs.. but mostly I think their workout is bullshit

That is the point behind the workout, it's to be fit not to build muscle. Oh and for the record, that isn't what is done in typical SEAL PT. That is the infamous BUD/S Warning Order. It is nothing but a beginner routine, designed to to help a man pass the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) only. Check out http://www.getfitnow.com for more info on this subject. They have an E-Store, Forums, and Articles that will help you with this if you're interested.

Due to liability issues, the Navy no longer posts the BUD/S Warning Order on their site. Take a look anyway at www.sealchallenge.navy.mil and see what you think.

If I remember right, isnt BigBuck going through the actual program right now? I know I have not seen him on the boards for a while. BigBuck, good luck where ever you are bro!

Good site, Magnus T Rico, I hadn't seen that one before. I think it would be a worthy goal, as not everyone's fitness goals are the same. I was big once, but at 40 years of age that is far from my pryority now. In fact, it seems a little silly now but to each his own. I do understand the obsession of spending hours in the gym.

Time spent in the gym will lower your stress levels and increase your health thus making you more productive... It is a very good investment...

I usually work anywhere from a 10 to 11 hour day... If i miss a string of workouts my stress levels skyrocket and the chance of me taking the life of a coworker also goes way up...

FYI- my weekday workouts usually dont go over 45 minutes, i am usually in and out of the gym in about an hour...

I try and do cardio on my off days - or i go before work if i am really needing it...
