My heart doesn't feel right

_Yossarian_

About a year ago, an echocardiogram showed that I had a mitral valve prolapse, nothing extreme and somewhat common. Doc told me not to worry.

A week ago I started getting a slight ache in what I assume is my heart. Its an on-off thing and not very painful, but its my heart and Im starting to bug. Ive continued to workout and feel fine when doing so, no ache whatsoever.

Ive made an appointment with my doctor, and will be seeing him soon, but I was hoping someone could shed some light on possible causes. Ive ruled out coronary artery disease b/c of age and the fact that pain should persist while doing strenous exercise. Im pretty sure it isnt a heart attack b/c I would be dead.

Anyway, its starting to really freak me out, and I know there are a few doctors on board. Hopefully one of you can share some insight

btw Im not on any gear at the moment, came off moderate cycle about 6 weeks ago.

Sorry I can't help you bro, but I do wish you the best of luck!!
Let us know what the Doc. says!:)

Of course it could be your heart, like angina or an arrythmia. Hopefully, not. Maybe pleuritic chest pain, that would be nice. More likely if it's worse when you breathe very deeply. Could be a costochondritis, inflammation between ribs and sternum, and anti-inflammatories would fix it. They'll probably do an EKG and x-ray and physical exam with lung auscultation to start. Best of luck -- and let us know!

thanks fellas, I wish I could go see the doc right now. Ive ruled out angina as its supposed to be sporadic and go away with rest, i can still feel it when I wake up  Whats an arrythmia, and how do you fix it?

arrythmia is an iregular heart beat... for some reason I had it when they put me on this blood thinner medication, for my bloodclot in my shoulder
its a fucked up feeling like your heart skips the beat every 5th turn and then tis a big boom and blood starts flowing again.. this happens continiously for some time and it doesnt feel good..

oh and it would kick in if I had some alcohol in me too... thats when I found out it was true that alcoholol and medicine dont mix together..

oh well im glad thats over now....

I don't think it could be arythmia. I have the same type of arythmia of sconoscuito. It is PVC. Mine is a little bit stronger because is caused with caffeine, lack of sleep or cocoa. So if i don't get those stimulants i feel great but if a mix anyone of them, my heart starts dancing latin music (irregular beats) and skipping beats.

I hope that pain is something in your chest and not in your heart...
good luck!!!

well, I doubts its an arrythmia as the beat isnt off. I have never used any stimulants or fat burners (clen, ECA, etc) in my entire life, so Im sure its not that.

As far as anxiety goes, the more I concentrate on it, the more prevelant it is, which really blows, but I highly doubt Im just playing mind games on myself.

whoever I missed with the karma will get a double dose when I recharge!! :)

I can't help you on the diagnosis, but can tell you I have mitral valve prolapse too and I've been juicing for years with no ill affects. Don't sweat it to bad bro.

test enan 500mg/ EQ 400mg per week for 12 weeks, w/ 20 mg dbol for 4 weeks as a little kick start.

I was on v12 at the time this all started, but discontinued use after I started experiencing these symptoms.

Could ephedrine cause pain in the heart area? I know what your talking about, but I will only feel the pain for like a few minutes every month or so, but yeah since its my heart I keep up with it. If it starts more often I'm going to the doctor, but it dosen't hurt bad when it happens. :(

I knda think taking Xenadrine for 3 months may have caused it for me.

bro, i'm the same way, i've got heartburn and it scared the shit out of me for some reason... i've been in great health all of my life and after a bender weekend of way-too-much drinking, i woke up with this dull chest pain... and i couldn't stop thinking that it might be something worse than just acid reflux... pretty much drove myself nuts for a day and a half..

started taking prilosec and tagamet and am already noticing a reduction in the sensation, which really doesn't come and go, except that it seems to worsen after consuming food... hopefully, that means my diagnosis of my current state is correct...

again, i would really look into the possibility that you are suffering from heartburn, because your symptoms sound very close to mine...

Don't speculate! Go to a heart Doc and tell him everything. This is your ticker and the only one you got.

I wouldn't mess around with trying to find the right advice to convince your self it is nothing. Go get it checked out by 2 different docs if you need to and then you will peace of mind.

mitro valve prolapse is caused from a lack of magnesium, get you some magnesium glycinate , and take 200mg in morn and 200mg at night

Actually mitral valve prolapse is caused by a genetic predisposition that causes the Mitral valve to become floppy and thickened (myxomatous). Not too uncommon 5-18% of population depending on the diagnosis criteria used. This is where the valve falls slightly back into the left atrium ( this is a one way valve between the L atrium and L ventricle). It is usually accompanied by a leak (heart murmur). We grade those leaks from 1-4, 4 would need valve repair, but 1-2+ mitral regurgitation would not need care, some recommend antibiotics for dental work of the leak is 2 or 3+. That prevents a rare heart infection that can occur called endocarditis. Other than that MVP is not so alarming, an echo should be done every few years to follow it to make sure that the Mitral valve leak doesnt worsen. MVP does make people more sensitive to adrenaline and can cause chest discomfort. Its difficult to distuinguish between angina without proper stress testing of the heart. This is a structural abnormality and we see it run in families so no supplementation would affect this condition. Interestingly enough MVP has been associated with panic attacks as well b/c of increased sensitivity to adrenaline. Juice would not affect MVP per se, although if juice raised your blood pressure then a mild valve leak could worsen, so as everyone should do, proper blood pressure control would be a must.

Palpitations on the other hand are quite common and occur in 100% of the popluation. Unless they occur several in a row, then we dont much care about them. Some people are just more sensitive to them and they are almost always benign. You may feel them easier if your blood pressure is raised. The typical response when we run patients on a stress test is for these palpitations to go away with exercise (overridden by adrenaline). What this means is that people if they are bothered by them, should go for a walk and they'll go away. Unfortunately people typically limit exercise out of nervousness or fear. This allows them to feel them easier and allows them to concentrate more on them. So just go for a walk and they should go away. If they dont, then you should bring to a doctors attention or if they occur more than 6 in a minute frequently. Stimulants or alcohol can exacerbate palpitations (same as PVCs). I know what they are and they can still startle me, but all in all they are more of just an annoyance.

nice post bro and it is your first one here good job

wmd, was the chest pain located near or around your heart?

LuciasBrown, excellent info bro, I was hoping you would show up, you are a cardiac specialist of some sort right? i knew there was at least one on board :)

I got an appt with my primary physician on Monday, so hopefully I survive the weekend :bawling: lol, j/k

Yup I look at hearts all day long. I try to check in and see whats up but my platinum expired and just too lazy to reup and had some problems responding. Not a prob with heart MVP is sorta a routine deal. I figure 1-2 pts out of 10 have it. Chest pain, well most likely skeletalmuscular or gastroesophageal, but ya never know~ it all depends on risk factors, genetics, blood profiles etc... But the MVP wont cause a heart attack. Its just a genetic variant that can make you more likely to have a leaky valve which can cuases its own problems. And sometimes they get the chest pain or panic attacks b/c of their sensitivity to the adrenaline, but thats the exception not the rule. Let us know how it turns out. They might send you for a stress test of some sort, probably a stress echo.
Good luck bro, Im sure you'll be fine.
