How lucky for him to be surrounded by family, we should all be so blessed-valerie

My family is not typical, but my dad's passing brought us together. My father is married and my mom was his companion. For most of my life this was kept a secret, especially the fact that I was his daughter. The only other person who really knew the truth was my brother who's 8 yrs. older than me. At one point we all worked together at my dad's resteraunt/bar. Me being the youngest, I only waited on tables, but my brother and sister both tended bar and our mom's would work together in the kitchen. After dad retired, he moved in full time with my mother and would take trips to spend time with his family (we're in FL and his wife lives in NY). Anyway, for the past couple of days I really got to know my brother and sister, we stayed up all night together, shared stories, learned a lot, and finally got to bond. So, although dad's passing is a tremendous loss, I've gained a lot. I finally have the brother and sister relationships that always I longed for. Dad would be happy to see us like this...too bad it didn't happen when he was still alive.

Thank you all for your wishes. I think all of the positive energies have really helped us out at this time. My mom will be back in a little while from taking the rest of the family to the airport and I'm going to stay here with her until tomorrow. Next week I'll come back down with my husband and help her finish up with what she needs help with.

That is so cool Mrs. P.....I take alot for granted with my family...we all live on our family farm, and have been close since we were kids.....

I would much rather pass before my family, I can't fathom how I will deal with the loss of one of my family members....
