I am going to give Needsize's 5x5 program a try starting in about a week, and have come up with the following:

Day 1 Chest
Bench Press 5x5
Incline Dumbbell Press 2x8-10
Calves
Abs

Day 2 Back/Shoulders
Deadlifts 5x5
Lat Pulldown 2x8-10
Row 2x8-10
Military Press 2x8-10
Side Laterals 2x8-10
Shrugs 2x8-10

Day 3 REST

Day 4 REST

Day 5 Arms
close grip bench 5x5
(supersetted with)
barbell curls 5x5
skullcrushers 2x8-10
calves
abs

Day 6 Legs
Squats 5x5
leg press 2x15-20
leg curls 2x8-10

Day 7 REST

I was trying to keep the volume kind low as I consider myself a fairly hardgainer and have a pretty physical job in the summer and wanted to avoid any possible overtraining.

any comments/ reviews appreciated :)

Why not put calves in with your legs? I'd add another accessory exercise to chest. Replace lat pulldowns with chins (pull ups). Military press, do 5x5. It is your main shoulder exercise. Just my opinions.

Other than that, I'd say it's pretty solid. Good luck with it man.

Ok thanks bro! I will move calves to leg day, and replace pulldown with chins.

I will also switch military press to 5x5.

thanks again for the help

I agree that you should definately do 5x5 for military. You also may want to do SLDL's instead of leg curls if you back isn't to worn out from regular deads and squats. I usually try to do them every other week or two, but lately my back has been to worn out. Besides that your routine looks good. Let us know how it works. I think you will really like it.

I had calves on leg day for a few weeks while doing 5x5, but I eventually moved them to the next day (which happened to be chest day, but it doesn't really matter when you put them I guess). After doing my quad/hamstring stuff I want to barf and crap my pants simultaneously.

Give it a shot, but don't be too worried about switching it up a bit.

Oh, and I agree with the other advice! :D

I also do front squats instead of the leg press, but the press is harder on my knees for some reason.
