Morons at the gym (the official thread)...

Last night I was doing lat pulldowns after deadlifting, and the piece I was using is part of a universal connected to a bunch of different cable attachments.

Personal trainer, kinda chubby, arms bigger than his legs. Was working with some skinny little guy...

"Okay, bicep day! Cable curls! 8-10 reps, 7 sets!"

So he had his client do seven sets of cable curls with about 30 lbs on the rack...while he was doing them himself with about 60 lbs and lots of body english.

He was wearing a bodybuilding.com t-shirt.

I have no faith in humanity.
 
he was pumping himself yelling before he did that and clapping at me and my workout partner like we should watch or something.


he also does like 6 inch squats with 385. i wonder if he thinks hes almost as strong as me when he sees me doing atg with 405.

Bro I'd take that pic that u have flexing that arm.. It makes ppl.question you. Put ip a better pic of yourself if your going to use one. Cause i know you said you were like 215 or something. I've seen you. You have a solid build....
 
theres a little skinny older guy at golds who goes to the smith machine, puts on about 275-300 pounds, gets under the bar and puts his whole body in the air, resting on his traps, like hes upside down. strangest thing i ever saw, then he does a rep or 2 and almost kills himself every time, then he takes his knee to push the bar off of him before it crushes him. then sometimes he goes to the chest press machine, puts 4 plates on each side and tries to get 1 rep while doing the same strange shit putting his whole body forward and not sitting on it. the only other thing ive ever seen him do is stretches
 
another one is the guy that goes there with his girl and lifts the exact same weights. must be 6'3, benches 95 pounds, squats less than 135. idk why he does this
 
Three weeks ago I'm finishing up my workout on the pulleys. In my direction I can see the one of the two squat racks in the gym. Two guys were squatting. Well what they thought were squats.

So I notice they both have knee wraps and are get g psyched for their session. First guy goes, he has a decent build on him and next to his buddy pretty much looks like Fabio without the hair. He has 315 on the rack and gets under it gets it loose from the rack and his buddy spits him. He literally goes down about 4.5 - 6 inches. His buddy and him give each other high fives after his set. So the other guy is up. He gets under it, removes it from rack and his legs shake like he is being electrocuted before he can get one he has to stop and re rack it.

They both take what I'm assuming was a piss together in the locker room and finally come out. The bugger of the two puts two more Caddy's on. So he went 315 to 405? Easy step and he does the exact same reps, shitty depth and everything. They both proceed to high five again. What a fucking joke. Do people really think this will make them stronger? I just don't get it bit it's worth a laugh. Thank god for headphones so I didn't have to hear what I am certain was a moronic conversation.

ive seen TRAINERS at my gym do that shit... at a Gold's at that... this one trainer is really starting to piss me off actually...
i was talking with the head sales guy (more on him later) who knows how to train right... well he was asking me about the program i was doing for squats, i was in the second phase on smolov at the time... i was telling him my weights planned for the next day, which was somthing like 10 sets of 3's with 365+... well, the deuch trainer walks in, who ive never seen squat before, and says 'oh, i could probably do that...'
next week or so i see the dip with 315 on the bar struggling, not even near making parallel lol...
anyways, that sales rep buddy of mine and that trainer got into it about a month after that... unfortunately the fired my buddy, and then later on the trainer was promoted to head trainer... he also lives with the general manager... what a crock of shit, eh?....
