Minoxidil for more hair volume and hair?!

My girlfriend is constantly complaining about her straight flat hair, and wish's she could do something. She often says, I just wish I had more hair. She does have relatively thin hair.

Anyway, I was considering suggesting minoxidil to her, to try to stimultate some more hair growth, but I don't know much about it regarding women, just men, I don't want to suggest something that could cause her probs.

I know it is unlikely to make much of a difference, just want to know if its OK for her to give it a try, and has anyone here used it.
Thanks

Oh no...don't do it. I have very long, full hair. But last year I was in a BAD accident which effected me emotionally. I was stressed for months. The stress caught up to me. One day in the shower, as I was combing through my hair, a bunch of hair fell out - more than usual since it's normal to have 70 strands of hair fall out per day. I got scared...thankfully it wasn't at all visible since the rest of my hair covered it. I got a mirror & moved all my hair around to find it & sure enough I had a lil' bald spot the size of a nickel. (I'm a chia pet - my hair has since grown back as soon as I stopped stressing) Doctors said it was alopecia - a condition which causes to lose hair due to high amounts of stress. My usual doctor wasn't in the office so I had someone else - he prescribed Monoxidil to rub on it. I did some research of my own & found out that it can cause women to grow hair anywhere on the body! So I didn't even bother taking it! There are other alternatives for women who has hair that is thin/fine which is much safer. Tell her to ask her doctor for other alternatives! Hope this helps!
