Might as Well Jump

I wish that I was still that good...

I wrestled all 4 years, to say I was mediocre I'd prob be bragging

I completed my first semester of college still being 17 so physical maturation wasn't on my side

butt, the significance of teh experience wood be best captured by Teddy's "Man in The Arena"

It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.

There is a standing football joke on this site about me but my brother is the best wrestler I've ever seen.....he still has the record for most take downs in a match...it's a reason I focused on football over wrestling...no way I could match my brother in wrestling.

At the time my best friend was the best in our school's history.

At least I got to experience winning vicariously. :)

Back then we weren't as cognitive of wrestling being a legit self-defense (before MMA). I did realize that my large football playing friends ended up on the short side of any drunkard college horseplay :)

Indeed...getting beat up by my brother in wrestling was an educational experience for me...lol...

I can still take down a mofo and beat him with elbows...my brother would take down people and let them up...nothing worse than knowing you can't stop a single leg even though you know it's coming....fuck Mike...loll...

My claim to fame was never getting pinned. I had an awesome bridge. Wood bridge to the tip of my nose for reps with the heavyweight sitting on my chest.

One dual meat coach put me up 2 weight classes due to an injury at the last minute knot to take the default points. The guy beat the crap out of me ... was looking at the gym lights all night. Think the final score was something like 16-2, but didn't get pinned.

Never got pinned ... knot in practice, in a meat ... just wasn't happening :)

Same here...I got my ass kicked plenty of times but my father left work to attend my first varsity match...I was a freshman and he was talking to my mom that I might get pinned...My mom responded with no way he will gt pinned.....and as usual mom was right...
