MCTs?

I have used the Twin Lans (MCT Oil, orange flav.) and also supplemented EFA as well(mostly natural)....The taste was horrible to say the least, of course this was many moons ago, but still, the memory lingers.....I personally have found that adding flax or extra virgin olive oil to my protein shakes works just as good, without the nasty after taste....

Just my opinion though.....

I think the MCTs are beneficial to anyone who has lowered thyroid function for whatever reason. This includes many obese folks, people on low carb and or low calorie diets etc...MCTs are alos directly ketogenic. This means they allow people on, say CKDs, to enter ketosis faster than without the MCTs. Faster entry into ketosis, higher thyroid action and easier to burn fats means less LBM loss and more fat burned with MCTs than without, as well as higher energy levels while getting through the transition into ketosis. 50% of energy from MCTs is what really gets thing revved up.

mcts

I use the heck out of MCT oil, Ultimate Nutrition MCT GOLD
Dont use twinlab unless you like the taste of vomit.

I use a tbs of mct in place of 100 cal of starchy carbs , or real fat. I've used up to 8 tbs a day and my energy levels were soaring.
Log on to Parrillo performance website and read about Cap Tri- It's their brand, but they have a lot of general info about mct's

Re: mcts

On a keto diet and you are trying to save some money with a little added taste then get virgin cocnut oil which has 40% MCTs at 1/10 the cost of the same volume of MCT's direct.
Or if you are all about saving money and taste doesn't matter then get expeller pressed coconut oil at 1/11th the price of MCT's straight with the same 40% MCTS as virgin.
I mix 1 tbs of expeller with 1 tsp virgin olive oil in 50% iso, 30% hydrolysed, and 20% beef serum shake as pre workout. (taste sucks so why waste virgin coconut)h
I mix 2 tsp virgin coconut oil, 1 tsp vitamin E and palm oil toctrienal/tocepherals, 1 gm vitamin c, 1 tsp cat's claw, 1 gm okg, 3 gm glycine, 2 gm glutamine peptides, 50% cfm, 50% Milk isolate as after workout shake with multivitamin and 2 tabs of olive leaf extract.
This has reduced soreness, days sick (I deal a lot with kids who are prone to be sick on my job), and has not interfered with blood lipid profile which is avg to good.
