Martial Artists...how do u train??

I usually train 6 days a week at a MMA dojo. 2-3 hours. But, since I blew my knee out, I've just been lifting. So, after my knee gets better, I'll get back into the ring much bigger and stronger than I was before. Hopefully my speed won't suffer much.

Look at this...

I used to train in a branch of Goju Ryu 5 days a week. Now i train 3 days a week for about 4 hrs/day. I also hit the gym 5 days a week sometimes on the same ay as karate. Also i go to college 5 days a week so as u can see i am a busy lil bugger. Well ttyl.

I was sort of wondering the same thing. That would be rough.
Since your training seems to be all in the evening, what time of day are you lifting?
If its cool that I ask, are you natural K-CC?

Yeah, it will be a challenge for sure. I am hoping that I can do everything that's non-martial arts related in the mornings. I'll test the routine out and see how my body responds. If it doesn't work out, I'll just tone down the lifting a bit.

Thaibox,

Yes, I am natural. I have thought about juicing many times, but I have come to realize that it just isn't for me. I have no problem with people who do juice, however. I just know how the stuff puts a mental handicap on some of the fighters I know; if they aren't "on", they just aren't the same. I don't ever want to be like that; I want my confidence to come as a result of hardwork and the mastery of technique, not chemical enhancement.

Sorry if I offended anyone.

thai box-

i got 4th in the 17 year old division..

and i lost my first fight in mens division..i lost 2-0..then that guy won the tourney

rgosit, thats good for your first tourney bro. Its one thing to train on a mat in an empty dojo. Its another world to do it in front of a shit load of strangers in that type of environment. You'll get more comfortable with it, and start to whoop all kind of ass. Soon, you'll be doing it in front of thousands of people.

K-CC
I had the exact frame of mind about juice. But, when I was a senior in high school I was 6'1" 140 lbs. So, I clearly didn't have genetics on my side. I stayed natural until I was 24, and despite lifting hard and eating virtually perfect, I was forced to do cardio every single day and not growing very much. Unfortunately, I was 6'2" so I was on the card with shorter and much bigger/stronger guys. Almost every professional fighter I knew was using something from mild cycles to serious GH, A-bombs,1g/wk test, etc. When I was Thai Boxing, I usually had a decent reach advantage to even it out, but when I started NHB, it was a whole new world. I had reached my genetic limit at about 210, so just picture a 5'10" 7% bodyfat shootfighter in my weight class coming at me. So, I did a few cycles and busted my ass. Now I'm 250 with really low bodyfat and up until a recent injury, just as fast and reactive as I was at 210. I also really enjoy bodybuilding, and juice has enabled me to pursue both interests which would usually be physiologically impossible. I'm off cycle now and can deadlift over 5 plates, flat bench 405(before a rotator injury), so it has made me happy.

"I want my confidence to come as a result of hardwork and the mastery of technique, not chemical enhancement."

I agree, and if no one else did it, I wouldn't either. But, if you ever plan on fighting professionally, go talk with the other fighters, and you may change your mind. Personally, I've put in 20 years of hardwork, so my confidence comes directly from pride.

I understand when you say it puts a mental handicap on some. I know guys that train like shit when they are off, because they have come to rely on its effects. I also know guys that are on year round to avoid this. I simply use them as a tool to enhance what I have already acheived. I'm just as driven and motivated off of them as I am on. I see it as this: I've trained my whole life to be the best fighter I can possibly be. I know that I'll be up against guys that have done the same. These guys are bringing an extra tool into the ring with them. Am I going to sacrifice my dreams because I don't believe its correct? Or am I going to bring the same tool into the ring and equalize the fight back down to raw knowledge and talent?

Anyway, I'm not promoting the use of gear, just explaning my reasoning behind it. I definately respect your standpoint.
