look retarded after fat loss...

kiosk

New member
I been on a modest deficit diet for past few months, I have dropped about 15lbs (from 220 to 205), I am 6'1' at around 15% BF (I think)

The problem is i seem to have lost nothing in the lower belly...look retarded because my ribs are showing now and I can even see my obliques, but have a stupid pot belly still hangin in there. I think I looked better when was a little heavier

I know belly fat is last to go, but I would have expected to lose at least some...

Well done on what you have accomplished so far.

The belly is the fat reservoir, so it is the last place that most people lose fat, especially men.

Rule of thumb, abs don't show on men till around 10%, but of course, everyone is different.

Post up a typical day's diet.

I also am starting to think that a lot of fat deposits are hormone related, belly fat is related to insulin, cortisol, adrenaline/epinephrine and noradrenaline/norepinephrine.

Too little sleep, too much stress, too much caffeine, too much processed fats and carbs.............BELLY FAT.

To much caffine ? Man i'd like to know somthing about that..im unaware. You probably have a bad carb diet also, because i can eat some nasty carbs and wake up like im my bitch that time of the month--Bloat Bro...

Everyone has a spot where they tend to hold more fat. It's usually the first place you gain it and the last place you lose it. For me, my belly is the first to go. I need to get my bf% pretty low before my legs look as lean as the rest of me. Hell, I could do all lower body cardio, weights, and so on and totally ignore my belly and my abs would still look leaner than my legs. It's kinda crazy.
Just keep up the good work and give it a little more time. If your diet it right --u will see results. Maybe that's just the last spot to go.
I agree with Tatyana about hormones. That's prolly how our fat spots are determined.

thanks man, I was afraid somone was going say that because I do have somewhat stressful job, kids, single income family and actually sleep could be better also....

I try keep diet simple...around 2800 cal day or so, complex carbs only in AM or mid-day, simple carbs only after training, lots veggies and meat/poultry....no carbs after 3pm

actually I dont know if I could diet any better, this hard as it is...and now if stress is a factor....ppffff...am phucked.

Training helps with stress, and magnolia root is a natural cortisol blocker.

New Chapter also does this great stress adaptagen supp, however anything with valerian, hopps, rhodiola rosea, chamomile, passiflora will help with stress.

Bach Flower Rescue remedy is great when things get really stressful.

You may want to consider introducing some yoga (at least as long enough to get the yoga breathing down, it is fantastic for chilling out) or meditation into your weekly routine, or see if you can get some bodywork done, reflexology, shiatsu or thai massage..............

yup, from what I've read, center belly fat is mostly cortisol mediated, love handles are mostly estrogen mediated

Lack of sleep and high estrogen is one of the main drivers of fat deposits in men, along with other things of course like resistance to insulin, thyroid issues etc...

just keep at it bro. i lost a lot of muscle getting those last 5 lbs off.
