My advice is to learn how to power squat and make it more of a hip (posterior chain) movement to take you knees out of the equation. Your not in a contest so go super low is not that important. You can get great stimulation by doing high squats and not locking out completley. Then i would go do some high rep or drop set with leg press or hack squat. Lunges are big leg builders too. There is also the 20 rep squat program which is great for begginers. Figure out what a challenging 10 rep squat is, knock out 10 reps fast and then you can take up to 3 deep breaths inbetween each rep till you get to 20. Make sure to add small increments each week and its only one set!
