Since Egypt had recently signed mutual defense agreements with Syria and Jordan the war necessarily entailed attacking territories controlled by them as well. Egypt had forces of about 100K available for defense, and the other two about 120K between them, making them slightly numerically inferior to Israel. Technologically, the Egyptians and the others were outclassed. The kick off of the war was a "preemptive strike" (fancy words for unprovoked attack) on the Egyptian air force.needtogetas said:not likely the jews can kick some fucken ass.only cuntry I know that can take on 5 cuntrys at once and still live to tell about it.
The fact remains that all rational assessments of the day including that of the US dip corps trying to restrain Israel under Johnson's admin knew that the Egyptians, Jordanians, and Syrians weren't looking for a fight and couldn't win one if it started. Israel knew that too.... but apparently couldn't resist the temptation to give the indigenes an ass whipping just for the thrill of the ride. Underneath it all may have been the sense that Jerusalem could be made a permanent part of the Israeli sphere if such a war could be successfully prosecuted. And no, they haven't given much back.
