Is it bad to run 7 days a week?

I currently run 3 miles every morning Monday through Friday and take the weekends off. I was wondering if the 2 day break is necessary or should i be running 7 days a week? I also weight lift 3 times a week dead lifting on Friday and usually on Saturday my back and legs are sore that's why i take the weekends off. Am i doing right or should i be running 7 days a week?

you need to allow recovery. rest and food= recovery

Running wastes muscle IMO... Diet first till you can't lose any more fat than slowly add cardio but slow paced... That way you keep your hard earned muscle.. But running is very catabolic

I stick to stationary bikes and some times eliptical machines for cardio, less impact, more steady state, normally less muscle loss.

Until summer basketball then I have no choice but daily HIIT via games lol

From an endurance perspective, 3 miles isn't that far to cause injury. During the summer, I probably bike everyday, some days are fun others are hard days. Do what you enjoy.

Yeah I agree, listen to your body.. Some of us can run every day without problem, others have a really hard time and lose muscle mass.. 3 miles is only a short jaunt really, so there shouldn't be any harm..

I always chuckle when I get big muscly guys tell me than I'm doing too much cardio.. I'm sure they would if they could, but they have to lug around so much fat that they end up injuring themselves.. once you're in the groove, injury isn't much more of a risk than 4 times a week, and if you eat properly you will stay anabolic..

I still have pretty decent size, great conditioning, and those "big muscly guys"shut their mouths real quick when they see my ripped abs.. I'd rather be fast and strong than just "big".. If you are just big, as soon as you turn your back on diet/training, you will turn into the human blob..

It would be a good idea. It's just a matter of time before some part of your lower extrmeties starts to hurt (i.e. ankle, knee, etc.)

I would agree with this if it were heavy lifting. But three miles is not that far. If you feel tired and are sore, take a day off. But even when I am tired and sore, it wouldn't stop me from biking 30 miles that day.
