Is child abduction happening more often?

Well if those kids go to a large school it would be hard to tell the difference between who belongs there and who doesnt. Someones dad may look like a stranger to someone who doesnt know them. Our schools have Security guards all over the place...Im sure there's even more after the summer of kidnappings.

Well whether its more often or not, its still happening too often.

You know, in the UK the government insists that those previously convicted of paedophilia be allowed to live amongst the mainstream population when released......oh and you arent officially allowed to know who they are. However, for some strange reason they never seem to be living in wealthy areas.

My brother used to live on an estate where several of these people were located.......it didnt take a genius to figure outwho they were. They were the ones staring at the kids like they were bitches on heat.....the local police unofficially confirmed peoples suspicions. Pretty fucked up to let these people live close to kids. That is just asking for trouble.

I've also just completed teacher training. One thing that really suprised me was the number of times kids would come in saying some man tried to take them away.......or the number of men hanging around outside the school for no apparent reason.

The teachers tend to know who is a parent and who isn't....they meet parents at least twice a year.

We have one or two schools with security guards, but on the whole we avoid it. I dont know whether this is a good or bad thing.

TBONE- your boy is 15- my daughters 9- and shes very outgoing-- and anyones whos seen her knows Im in deep trouble by the times shes 12-- So I cant win!

Scarry. Good luck. I'd rather have a boy. I have a six year old neice. If she is anything like her mom, (my sister) we are in trouble.

Recently there was a program set up by parents of an abducted child. It is a reward program that gets the media to keep coverage up on missing children and get more attention on this problem.
So to answer some of your questions, this has always been happening but just hasn't gotten as much coverage in the past as it does now.
I see what some of you are saying how it seems that it is happening more and more, which may be the case also.

I told someone the other day it must be the heat out in the west cause it seems like thats the only place it is happening.(not meant as an offensive joke)

Actually abductions are down over 50% this year. There is just a lot more coverage.

it is funny how the media can influence behavior. Until I read that I thought they were up too. Probably another government plot to get you all scared abotu something that is 1 in a million, and then create 12000 more laws to restrict your travel rights.

or else I am paranoid.

No way your paranoid. The media wants to scare people so they will be willing to put the Digital Angel chip in their kids and dissinsitize you when it the mark of the beast comes along.
