I am having a little trouble with my canvas suit. I have one from Ginny. I can't seem to stop the bar form sliding/rolling down my back. This is my first canvas suit and I have never had this problem with poly. Also, I seem to not be able to get any air. I wanted to suit up today before my sp sets so I went up to 715 and lost the entire fucking bar off my back. I have video of it if that will help diagnose the probem.

Are the straps canvas also or are they the velcro material on top? I've seen em both ways and the velcro material is slick. Or it could be the straps are so thick your not really getting contact on your back so try a thick shirt like a flannel or denim winter shirt and cut it off into allmost a belly shirt so it gives you room to breath, I had the same problem since my waist is so thick I don't get suits with a tight midsection. You might need to have it opened up in the mid drift, have them cut it down the side by the armpits and add material. And remember chalk is good. sorry if I ramble.

The straps are canvas. I will try the flannel or denim shirt thing -- I don't know where in the hell I will find one of those in Florida but I'll try. I was talking with someone else and they mentioned they had to wear their belt higher and put the bar a little higher up on their back.

I had the same problem 1-dawg. I put on the suit and when I worked up to 600...when I flexed out of the bottom the slid straight down my back. I think I came close to ripping both shoulders out of socket. I was using a thick shirt underneath with a ton of chalk...and I "thought" I had the bar higher than normal.

Anybody else have any advice?

The bar higher on your back might help a little but also might affect your form. Is this a squat bar your having trouble with or a standard length bar? I've not really noticed if they are that different besides 10lb+ and a little longer maybe the knurling is worn on the bar?

I consider myself lucky -- I have an okie squat bar. I got it about 2 months ago from Dave. BTW, when I lost the 715 today, nto a scratch in it.

If I had to squat in a normal gym with a standard bar I probably would say screw it! I have my hands almost all the way out on a squat bar and still my shoulders hurt when I go heavy sometimes, let alone having em cramped up to fit in a narrow ass bar. Yeah I watched a bar come off someones back and it bounced off the squat box and came to a stop on it with dble blues+green+purple and like 600+on it and it was ok.good shit but freaky.

IN the interest of safety dawg,

Post the video if you can.

Glad your OK.

Seems like squattin around here is getting real dangerous.
