incline with smith?

hey, the gym which i go to doesnt have an incline bench, so im forced to do it under a smith machine. Are the any benefits/disadvantages to this?

smith machines have counterweights to balance the bar so you end up not using alot of the stabilizer muscles that you'd have to use if you were using free weight.

My gym has 2 racks where it's setup like a smith machine, but there is no counterweight. Just the hooks which let you rack the bar and the straight steel bar that the path of the bar travels along.

What is this type of bench called?

I personally prefer the smith for inclines. It's the only bench movement I do. Weighted dips are the staple of my chest routine. I don't like to rely on a spotter, and the power rack is always in use. Right now I am coming back from an injury though, and doing them free weight style.
