In need of diet / workout advice

Well like I said, as of right now my dinner meals are still the same as they were before..Pasta, chicken, steaks etc. Yes, I know that will need to change and I am prepared to do so.

As far as times go...I eat a cereal bar every morning at 7:00, and I dont get to eat again until dinner which is between 5-7pm (depending when I get done with work)

You're really screwing with your metabolism eating the way you are.

You should be eating 6 small meals spaced out evenly through the day.

There is nothing wrong with chicken and steaks, those are great foods to build muscle.

So you eat a cereal bar (what is that, like 150 cals?) and then you wait TWELVE hours to eat again? You need to bring food and EAT. You're making your metabolism slow as hell by fasting for so long thoughout the day.

Go buy some protein powder and shaker cups. You can bring those to work easily. Also, what the other people said. Nuts, beef jerky, all natural peanut butter on 100% whole wheat bread, etc.

Don't be afraid to eat. Sometimes you have to eat more to lose more. Plus you can't really expect to gain much muscle with your current diet.

YEa, i kinda figured that...but like i said...i'm diet illiterate...So if I were to go grab some protein shakes and shaker cups what should I be looking for? Any suggestions as far as brand/makeup of shakes to get?

As i'm sure you've noticed, im not starting with a good base here...I'm 281 and would like to get out of the "risk" category...IF possible i'd like to slim down enough to where i'm "normal" size for my height.
