Important to space out meals?

I used to follow the general idea that you should have 6-8 small meals a day. I know it does help speed up the metabolism whihc may help in reducing fat gain while bulking, but I've also heard the arguement that it helps to keep a steady flow of amino acids through the body. Recently though, Casual had said to me that the body is shown to respond better through larger spikes of protein, and 4-5 larger meals would be okay. In the end, all that matters is getting all that food down over the course of a day. Is this true?

I ask because, as a student and part-time worker, it's tough to get food down sometimes. I can't imagine how some guys do it.

Try as best you can to spread out your meals as best you can, and learn to listen to what your body is telling you. I know its a vague response, but everyone is different. Personally, unless you are at an extremely high level of bodybuilding, I don't think there will be a big difference between 5 and 6 meals. So yes, as long as you get all your nutrients in a reasonable manner, you should see good results.

When it all comes down to it, is this your life? For most people, no. They have jobs. They unfortunately cannot afford to maximize every little speck of their training regimen. Unless you are getting paid to be a bodybuilder, or unless it is convenient for you, then I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just, as I said, do the best you can.
