I'm out of the game my friends

this whole story is pretty sad man. you can no longer fight. but you can still do bodybuilding stuff right??maybe imwrong

you can still do

bench (if your rotaters get better)
sholder raises
bicep curls
triceps
shrugs
ax chops for the lats on a pully
legs extensions
leg curls

it seems like there still is alot you can do even though you have a back injury. just see if u can work around it. it seems like none of these excersises should effect your back munch. you would just have to stay away from heavy sholder presses deads and squats.

but i dont know what u can do, it just seems like you could do these excersises withought worrying about your back because things like curls and bench presses and the others ive listed

good luck man and dont count yourself out. hopefully you arent out totally

keep that positive mindset like youve always had. and maybe you should consider prayer, but i dont know how you feel about that. but hell what have you got too loose, prayer will work, its worked for me in the most fucked up situations, give it time and give it faith.

Not quite that simple nc. Even a simple muscle strain in your back will make most of those excercises extremely painful, albeit temporary. Back injuries affect everything, even something as simple as a curl, especially the type TB is used to.

But I agree with you. I don't think old Toybox has seen the last of the freeweight section of his gym quite yet.

I can only say thank you. These kind words mean a lot to me(even gymtime’s)

The reason I'm sounding so final about this is because from the years of thinking I was hard enough to work through everything, I have a considerable amount of nerve damage in my lower body that is irreversible. Not to mention I am also tired of doors slamming. You can only get back up so many times over so many years before it just becomes silly. I was told today that I will need a two level surgery within the next 3 weeks, then what is to be done from there is sort of up in the air for now due to the complexity. I looked at my MRIs today, and it looked like someone stacked a bunch of pancakes and stomped on them:).

Anyway, I don't plan on ever quitting entirely. I went to the gym yesterday and did bodyweight chins, and a couple hammerstrength machines. I will always lift to whatever capacity I’m capable. If I end up in a wheel chair and can only move my head, I will have a HUGE neck. But, I’m engaged now and have to think of my future and my responsibility to my future wife. This is probably going to rob me of my law enforcement career, so I have a lot of crap to deal with.

Anyway, I apologize for the negativity everyone. I just re-read what I wrote last night and I hate being so damn negative. Many people have it far worse than I, and I have no right to be bitching. Its just that I’ve worked really hard to get where I am, and I just don’t see myself getting here again, let alone reaching my goals that were very very close.

Thank you once again my friends. My best to all of you.

With life expectancy rates climbing, you'll still have a good 70 years to resume lifting, so focus on recovery as much as possible.
Remember, no rushing it, and keep strict form :)

Good to hear your more up beat today my friend...
Get yourself to optimal health, and go from there...
Everybody here believes in you...
Maybe we'll meet up one day when we're both in wheel chairs and do neck excercises together... It'll be a good time ;)

LOL! i'll most likely be there

SorryThai,
Take your time geting surgery and redefining your goals so when you are ready to train you are wmarter and more prepared to listen to your body. I know this sucks but make the best and realize you are not going to die and you are very young and can train again. Take your time and rehab well, and start off slow. As a warrior the battle means more than the outcome. Stay on the boards give advuce and help others avoid mistakes, I know I wold appreciate it as well as others. Best wishes,
Lord Suston
