I'm Down

When you said "Well it looks like I'm down for at least a month." it looks like that's a good estimate for regular ROM and non-calf exercises. If you can sit down and raise your leg and point and flex the calf (without any pain) then do that. If you can walk, climb stairs, whatever, then do that, it will help heal you and keep the elasticity in the calf. Anything that hurts is going to be risking making it worse. You have to exercise it within it's abilities and slowly increase that until you are able to squat and dead, etc. It may well be a year before you are dragging trucks again.

arg my favorite of bblazer's avatars was that picture of him dragging the truck! Get well for my pictures like that!!!!!!!!:D

Just had my second round of Graston, cold laser, ultrasound and kinesiotaping today. I would say there has been a 25% reduction in swelling (my cankle is starting to disappear), and most of the bruising has moved down to my ankle and under my foot. I'll be doing this 3x/week for 4 weeks.

Its apparent that the gastroc is starting to compensate for the soleus since I am noticing some resistance when I try to lock out my knee. Foot ROM with my knee bent still hurts, and I don't have complete ROM, but it is getting better. I also began using a red micro band for some resistance work - I loop it over my foot, hold the other end and point my toes away from me, then pull then back towards me.

I'm hoping this aggressive treatment will get me back in the game sooner. We'll see.
