I got a call on my cell phone last night

I didn't hear it ring, but I woke up at around 1100 to eat and I noticed that I had a voice mail. I checked my messages and it's this guy who is calling me MF'er and bitch and says that we have some business to discuss. He said my name so as to make sure I knew it wasn't a wrong number and then he mentioned something about my kids. He said he is gonna call back tonight at the same time. I guess he doesn't realize that it's past my bed time. The caller ID says private number. I sure would like to find out who it is. Does anyone know of a way to make a private number show up? Maybe if I forward it or something?

I don't think there's any way to display a private number. Could it be a friend playing a joke on you? (Albeit a bad one)
 
Make sure you`re at the police station at 10.59 PM ready for the call. or Tape it. A little bit goes a long way.

I don't think it was a joke. I'm pretty sure most of the people I know wouldn't so do something like that. I do think it is pretty uncool to say anything about my kids. I'm not worried because if this guy was about business, it wouldn't have been over the phone.

It could be Poyeboy. Now that you mention it, I did give him my cell phone number one time. Maybe he's mad because I told him he needs a face transplant.

I have the message saved. I'm thinking about trying to make it a .wav file so I can put it on here.
 
And, could the person have gotten your name from your answering machine message? Or is it not on there....

No, it isn't on my message. It is strange because I don't really give the number out much. Someone that I gave it to must have given it to someone.

I know it sounds lame but I would go to the police BECAUSE he said he would call tonight again. Ask them what you should do and that he`ll call tonight. It`s better to have this documented from day one, especially if it drags on for weeks or whatever.

Unless you`re gonna beat his ass, then you should`nt go to the cops. lol
 
Think about it bud...you must have pissed someone off recently...I guess there is a small chance it could be some random who does not know you, but I doubt it. I'm sure you have a list of suspects, as would anyone who had this happen...

I've been trying to go over in my head, just that. Nothing comes to mind though. I'm usually too busy to piss people off, working two jobs, going to school and taking care of kids. If someone is pissed of at me, they clearly don't know me, because I am pretty laid back. This dude said my name though and I kind of think he was put up to it because he has a very distinct voice and I think I would recognize it if I ever heard it again.

GL, I think I'm gonna hold off on the 5 0 for now. I kind of want to see if he call back tonight. I do have the message saved though in case I need it later.

I was thinking maybe a client's husband or something, but I don't know how he would have had enough info to know I have kids.
 
Dude, if he threatened your kids, take the recording to the cops. For certain it can be traced

The block is just on your end
they will know who sent it at the phone co

Threats even over the phone can be prosecuted

You think the call was a joke or this thread is a joke? The call maybe, but if it is, they could have left my kids out of it and it would have been a lot funnier.
 
I would really hope people know better than to joke about a persons kids...there is nothing funny about that.

If it was, I doubt there'll be a call-back tonight.. but if there is, make sure you get it on tape onerep.

Onerep, I know you live south somewhere, what are the concealed weapon laws like? If that was me recieving that type of call, I would have my .38 w/ankle holster, just cause you never know what fuckos will do anymore...esp if it is about some jealousy shit...
 
Once he involved the kids, it is no longer a joke, even if he isnt serious. Juts mentioning them is an implied threat. Why take the chance that he is serious, even ifit is just 1 in a thousand chance. Go to the cops, find out who the bitch is, and take it from there. Dont let him be in control.
 
I just called the sheriff's office and they said that unless I know who is calling, there is nothing they can do.

Don't be worried Seashell, like I said earlier, if this guy was about any business, it wouldn't have been a phone call.

I was kind of hoping that someone might know a way that I can find out the number to a blocked call.

Soem guy threatened me on the phone over a girl when I was youngger. I took it as bullshit, and even gave him my address to come over and show me. Within the year he killed both his adopted parents. You never know with people
 
The dude from Sprint said that pretty much my only option is to change my cell number. Crap on that. I hope he calls back tonight and we can talk about if Edward Norton juiced for American X.

I meant the call was a possible joke. (a bad one I might add) I really don`t know what they said exactly but it is bad to include kids in any joke like that. I can`t believe the sherrif`s office said they can`t do anything. Threats don`t mean anything? wtf?
 
Only the cops can get the number. If you have an attorney, or a friend that is one, have them call. They have some seriousliability issues if they ignore it and something happens. Put it in writing as well, and deliver it to them with some way of verifying. Then copy by certified mail. It's a lot of shit to go through, but you really can never tell. Might be some asshole who thinks your diddlying his wife. Bro's go nuts over that stuff
 
Once an attorney calls (who is an officer of the court) or they get it in writing (or something verifiable) they will go into cover their asses mode and work this for you
 
The dude might have ID blocked his own phone, but the switch at the phone company would still be able to identify what phone number placed the call.

This really sucks though, especially if he knows you have kids, and you don't know if he really knows where they are.

I hope you find some answers fast.

Yeah, it was my cell phone and the dude told me that the number doesn't get sent to their switch. I may have to start my cycle earler than planned so I can be extra mean.

The gym I use to goto, one of the owners was screwing some mafia guys wife. Well the guy found out and put a hit on him. The other owners looks just like the guy who was screwing this guys wife. So the other owner walks out back of the gym to throw away garbage and he gets shot and killed. Wrong Guy.

Lesson I learned: Don't fuck around with someone elses woman

FBDC, not sure if it was from his cell phone or not. Maybe that would explain why the call was so late. He was waiting on his free minutes.

LOL, the reason I ask is because if it's a cell phone, the cell company uses his number and ESN number of his phone to identify if that phone is indeed authorized to use the network.

I am calling bullshit on the phone company not "seeing" the phone number, that number is apart of the network ID process. You may not be able to see it at the distant end, but for damn sure the phone company sees it.

Let me check this out for you if you don't mind.

Seriosly though, I have had plenty of people throw idle threats my way......but never have I had somone mention my kids. That would seriously get me worked up, empty threat or not, someone would die.

theres a service you can get so that you wont accept blocked numbers, the caller will have to press *82 in order to display the number and for the call to go through

I asked the Sprint guy about that and he said that service isn't available through them yet.

I feel the same way you do Pittbull, when he mentioned my kids, he took it to a whole new level.

Just as I suspected, but needed to get verification.

I spoke to our reps at AT&T Wireless and Nextel. The explanation is as follows:

If he is using a cell phone to make these threatening calls, he can block his number from showing up on your caller ID, BUT the cell phone still transmits the phone number to the supporting cell network for verification and authentication purposes.

In other words, he is lying when he says that the cell phone company cannot see his number. The network has to see the number in order for the phone to work on the cell network.

For land lines, talk to Dial Tone, I am assuming that his handle refers to some kind of wired network experience.

I hope this makes you feel better.
 
When they say "Change your number" You can tell them OK drop my service. and I`ll get another number through another provider. Maybe they`ll be willing to help you then.

I had some friends "play a joke" on me like this once... they said they were some dude they knew I didn't like and called saying they were him and he was gonna kick my ass and shit.... i hung up the first time but they kept calling back talking shit and getting me all pissed off.... (this is at like 3 in the AM)

next morning I woke up bright and early, put a pool ball in a pillowcase in my pocket and went out looking for this kid.... luckily I ran into them and they asked why I was so pissed and I told them and said I am going to cave his f8king face in when I find him and they were like "holy shit dude it was us!"
