Can't lift due to two upcoming surgeries

What should I do to minimize any weight/mass/strenght loss?

I'm currently taking 20g/glutamine a day and getting lots of protein.

try a cycle of creatine. i read some research somewhere awhile back

creatine supps where being given to astronauts in the shuttle program to slow down mucsle atrophy caused by the lack muscle usage while confined in space.

What are the surgeries?

I just had a back sugery and bought some COC grippers and a really light dumbell. I lost a bunch of weight over the lay up time, but my grip strength is fucking great now:D

I don't think you'll lost significant amounts of actual muscle tissue over a month layoff. You'll feel and look smaller and weigh less because of a loss of glycogen and water weight but don't freak out about it. Your size should rebound within 1-2 workouts. Your strength should similarly rebound after a little while, because when you don't lift your nervous system "unlearns" the movments and becomes less efficient at it.

Moral of the story: don't worry about it. Just make sure to eat at least maintainance.
