How to lose gut without losing weight?

I have gained quite a bit of weight being out of work sick for
3 months. I have gone up two pants sizes and need some real
advice. How can I lose my stomach (and love handles) without
losing weight all over? I have started working my abs 3 times a
week now. I just want to get down to a 36 waist without looking
all sickly. I was down to a 36 a few months ago but I looked
too small (especially the legs)! And a lot of people told me I looked like my face was too drawn in and that I should gain
weight. My current weight is 273. I am 6"5 so NO I am not a
fatty, just the belly. Please help???
 
It's not about losing weight - it's about losing FAT.

How to do it? Same way we all do - weight training, healthy 'clean' diet, moderate cardio, & patience.

You can't spot reduce - working your abs can make them stronger, but in order to get that fat off - you need all the elements (mainly clean diet, but also the lifting & moderate cardio).
 
chances are thats the last place you'll lose it. ive noticed that alot with people, they have a trouble area. once you get to a certain point though, your body has no choice but to make some dramatic improvements in these spots. but no, you cant just work on that area, its just that some spots show bodyfat loss more noticeably at first. ie, face,neck, forearms etc.
 
you can spot reduce.. just not through exercise....

increasing your protein intake, lowering bad fats, adding omega 3 fats, and doing some cardio. I have never meet anybody who's failed this program. Even my 60 year father had good results and he weighed about 280 at 6'6.
