How many sets/reps do you do?

I have been doing 10/8/6 gradually adding more weight every few months I reverse it 6/8/10 and take off weight. Me and a friend were talking about this the other day and I wanted to make sure I was right. More reps at a lighter weight is for definition and Less reps at a higher weight is for size, this accurate? Also is 10/8/6 too many or too litle reps for size, should I be doing more sets?

no u are completely wrong, i hope you didnt argue this point long becoz ur gonna have to tell your friend

1-5 reps is strength

6-12 reps for size

muscle growth has been documented and proven to incur within 1-15 reps, anything above 15 reps hasnt been proven to increase muscle size

I wasn't arguing to him for strengh just musce size, I was correct on the bigger muscle size for the most part I was saying 6-10 and was saying basically anything over that for definition 10-15+, thanks for clarifying the strength tho I didn't know I could go that low for strength.

Still not sure if 3 sets is enough tho.

I don't really think it matters how many reps you're doing, but i'd aim for about 12 sets for major muscles. Maybe less if you're doing higher reps.. don't really know i'm a low-rep guy.

thats where ur wrong, it doesnt give you definetion

no worries about the strength tip

Ah dang I got to tell my buddy that I was wrong on how to get definition. I never trained for that I figured I could bulk up alot and then sculpt later on.

My workout partner and I mix it up. We'll do 6-10 for a couple of sets then move to 4-6. Works well so far but im sure there's room for improvement.

lol no ud keep the same repition ur doing now

jkust a few less sets, and better diet

Oh ya for sure I would definately keep ding the same reps I am now, meant my friend I told him 15+
I keep it no more than 3 sets, got a perfect diet not sure where that cam from tho lol.

^^^^^^^^^^ exactly , i foun d that when i do low reps 1-5 i am able to do more sets (10-12) but when i go to 10-12 reps i only manage around 3-4 reasonable sets i think you body has a maximum effective volume and after that you are at the point of diminishing returns , if after 2-3 minutes rest you have to strip of much weight to get to your selected rep range then its time to jog on to another body part
