how long to develop chest muscles ?

I was wondering when do you see some development in your chest muscles ? I train my chest 1x a week, using 8lb. weights. I do 3 sets of 12 chest flys, 3 sets of 12 chest presses, & 3 sets of 12 good-old-fashioned push-ups. for the last set I place one hand on a box to really fatigue my chest muscles. I'm not that experienced, so I do my push-ups on my knees, as hard as I try I can't go up on my toes.

I have some ugly little bit of skin that hangs under my armpit, I'm hoping if I develop my chest enough i can firm this up ?

Any advice ???

buff- its going to be a long winding road leading nowhere using 8lbs to develop anything....you need to get on a barbell bench press (free-weights) flat bench...incline bench, dumbell press and dumbell flyes....you should be at a weight that can be worked with in the 8 to 10 rep range...warm up first and then hit it with some moderate to heavy weight...you must put a demand on the muscles in order for them to grow and develope (adapt) to loads...I could go on and on, this is a very brief response to your post, but there will be more in depth responses Iam sure...any more questions feel free to ask...

That underarm area you're probably talking about is your serraturs anteriors and not necessarially your pectoral muscles. A lot of chest and other upper body exercises hit those indirectly, and if your gym has a Super Pullover machine that's also good for those (as well as most of your upper body)...although you can't spot treat fat, so if that's what you have there, you're going to have to rely on diet and cardio to take care of lowering your overal bf %. I don't think there's much you can do if it's just hangy skin...

she isn't talking about her serratus don't cofuse the poor girl she talking about that little spot between the shoulder and pec the bra strap pinches

am i correct?

cable crossovers assisteddps or decline presses and pullovers will all hit this area coincidentally it will hit your serratus also

no, the "skin that hangs UNDER the armpit"...different area. Bra straps don't go under your armpit.

And actually, aside from diet/cardio, tightening up that armpit area comes from a combination of chest/serratus anteriors/biceps/triceps/rear delts....so good, complete upper body workouts each week. Its' a tricky, stubborn area for some of us becaue most women's bodies obviousy store fat in the chest area :).

Increase the weights to a level that will produce failure in the 6-10 rep range.

Do Incline db presses and then incline flyes and polish off with some cross-overs.

NOTE: I SEE A LOT OF INCLINE BEING DONE IN MY GYM YET VERY LITTLE UPPER PEC DELEVOPMENT...WHY??

ON PRESSES - KEEP THE DUMBELLS AT EYE LEVEL OR A LITTLE PAST YOUR EYES...TOWARDS YOU HAIR LINE AND SQUEEZE HARD AT THE TOP OF THE MOVEMENT
