Too cut carbs out completely on a cutter??

I'm on fina/eq (started 2 days ago) and going on the Eq for a while, fina for 6 weeks. I want to go from 5'10, 190, 12% to 8% and stay the same weight. But I feel like to do that I'm going to have to go more for the lean bulker diet posted above then the High Protein/Low Fats/Low Carbs diet I was gonna do.

I also think I need to start doing/add in cardio ed in the morning on an empty stomach (I also workout at night and do a rotation of Day 1 Cardio Day 2 Weights Day 3 Cardio and so on).

Interesting. Doing empty stomach cardio in the morning actually helped me regulate my daytime energy and eating levels tremendously.

I used to have breakfast and then do cardio but by lunch time I was practically falling asleep. I only have a small portable meal after empty stomach cardio and then eat a snack at work before lunch and my energy levels are fine and it gives me more latitude to eat during the rest of the day.

I think its just something you get used to, I'm always hungry when I get up but by the time I've been on the elliptical for about a minute I don't feel it again until I get off. I've personally done well by it.

No. For God's sake, when will people finally stop trying to kill themselves? Lower your caloric intake and do cardio, eat the correct foods (cut out processed goods, table sugar, sweetened beverages) and eat natural foods. You can very well lower your carb intake, but not cut it. Think about it, lowering your OVERALL caloric intake automatically lowers your carb intake. Please, think twice. What you do to yourself now will NOT pay off in the future. In fact, you're setting your path to a whole lotta bullshit...

No carb diets are nothing to mess with. You obviously need a change in exercise routine if you're already on a clean diet. If you're trying to gain muscle and lose fat, intensity weights. If you're good on the muscle but want to lower BF, just up your cardio. You're right about cardio. I would NEVER be able to do empty stomach cardio again. I've tried it once, twice, three or even four times. That's it. Personally, to me, it's committing suicide. I rather kill myself later in the day than torment myself in the morning and throw my entire day's worth of eating routine off. HIIT is wonderful for fatloss. Try it later in the day...as it shouldn't be done on an empty stomach (you need energy). If you know your eating hasn't been the best and you're trying to take a shortcut, you're an idiot. Clean your diet up and you'll drop the fat like nothing else...

-That is my personal opinion, it wasn't meant to offend you but moreso to make you realize no carbing was made for people 3 days prior their BB contest. Low carbing was meant for obese individuals, and clean diets are utilized by those with the mental capacity to understand they shouldn't manipulate their bodies. :)

ok, I totally get your pts. My diet is VERY clean. I haven't been to fast food in almost 2 years. Don't drink anything but diet and water. Don't eat fatty foods ever or bad carbs (ie no salami, pizza, mashed potatoes, etc.). I'm 5'11, 192lbs, 11% right now. I dont eat any processed crap EVER. Really, not ever. So basically, I'm not going to skimp on the carbs anymore, though, because it was making me feel weak and pissy (plus your post helped). I'm just going to go with alternating meals of Protein/Fat and Protein/Carbs.

The key is that I need to be doing more cardio, and that's why I'm adding in the every morning, because right now I'm just doing 1hr 3 nights a week, and lifting 3 nights a week (I only grow on low reps/low sets/heavy weights so that's what I do). Anyway, what do you think?

Well, my gym is located 15 blocks away. By the time I got there, did the cardio, and came back home I'd already missed about 2 - 3 meals. I'd miss a GREAT deal of calories I needed. I'd be dead all day... people at the gym were bout ready to call an ambulance at one point. Then again, I'm also a 16 year old girl :) I know, very well for myself, certain things older people on this board do that I shouldn't. Yet, still, when thinking health-wise..regardless of how much more difficult it is for older individuals to achieve results, I would in that person's situation still think of my well being first. I used to have a very slow metabolism and my hormones are very unbalanced. Whenever I notice I've slacked off, I do an extra bit of cardio. It works...

Older people?? :rolleyes:

:sigh: :lmao:

PatBateMan -- I would not recommend eliminating ALL carbs from your eating plan. If you're trying to lose bf -- you might want to try cycling your carbs or the times of day you're eating your carbs, etc to change things up. Carbs are very necessary for proper health & body function. Just make sure you're eating the right types of carbs.

Good carbs: WW bread (read the labels -- get one with 3+ g of fiber per serving), brown rice, sweet potatoes, WW pastas, veggies (no corn or peas or carrots), dark green leafy veggies (kale, collards, broccoli rabe, spinach, etc).

Most pita breads are white & highly processed. Most hummus' contain tahini -- a sesame seed product that can be high in fat. You don't get a lot of "bang for your buck" with pita bread + hummus.

If you want hummus -- make your own. Dip raw veggies in it.

Hummus

* 1 can garbanzo beans drained,save juice
* 3 teaspoons lemon juice
* 3 cloves garlic peeled (adjust to taste)
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1/4 teaspoon pepper
* pepper sauce, as desired
* If desired, add some olive oil, veggie broth, Apple cider or Red Wine Vinegars

Add all ingredients to food processor, process until smooth, add reserved juice to attain a spreadable texture. Adjust seasonings.

** For added flavors, roast the garlic, then add; add sesame or flax seeds/oils; chopped sundried tomatoes; roasted red peppers; chopped olives; etc etc etc

Hummus is great as a dip for veggies, as a sandwich spread on a meat or veggie only sandwich or with crackers.

:) oh, you old people you *runs* <~~~ cardio for today

HA!!

:sigh:

Technically, yes technically, I am old enough to be your mother.... :worried:

I will say what I have always said, a diet that is too leaned toward 1 or 2 macronutrients is not sustainable in the long shot... I will always be an advocate for more balanced diets. If those work, why would I want to stuff my face full of fat and proteins while squirming at the smalles carb around?

Anything taken to the excess is bad, so work out a plan that, while healthy, includes all major macros.
